da vinci code,fiction or real?

Not very really. Although a fair amount seemed to be based on a non-fiction book, "The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail" which is referenced in the novel.

The writers of "The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail" actually took Dan Brown to court, claiming plagiarism.

It is fiction. Though many of the facts presented are indeed true.

As the author himself says it is a fiction. But Dan Brown has kept things close to truth as in the places are true and the images are true. But, the interpretation of the images and the interpretation of the Holy Grail are all open to speculation. Also, the way the Priory of Sion has been projected, it has more of a fictional angle rather than a real fact.

Personally, I believe that the content of the book is really misleading to people especially to non-Christians. If one's faith is a bit shaky, the book would surely elude what's remaining in him. There are lots of unfounded ideas/things written in the book and they surely can play a naive's imagination.

Definitely a "FICTION"

it depends on how the reader will interpret the message/ meaning of the book itself. I have personally read the Holy grail also, it has a more serious arguments on it. Let your faith not be moved by these please^_^

I don't know what to say.I don't remember where exactly I've read this,but it seems that Dan Brown had access to some books stored in the Vatican's library.I think he's a smart man,trying to share his knowledge by the easiest way:take the information and write it as fiction.
As for the facts from the book...well..it's makes more sense to me for Jesus to be married and even have kids than to be a holy 30year old virgin.Sorry if my words are a little tough.But,from what I know..in those times,if a young Jew was not married,he was not allowed to speak up in public as Jesus did.Plus..the Bible was re-written so many times in the first 10 centuries after Jesus...
I believe that Jesus was a prophet,and that's all he ever was.Every religion is the same story with different characters.I have this belief for a long time now,and Dan Brown is just another man who shares the same belief.
As for Pierre Plantard and Phillipe de Cherisey,writers of 'The Holy Blood,The Holy Grail' I think they should thank Dan Brown for reminding the world about them instead of taking him to court(as stated in one of the posts here).But of course,Dan Brown got a lot of money after a book and a movie so I'm not surprised at all by the fact that they would enjoy some of those money also,since the 'Holy Blood,Holy Grail" book was more controversial than successful.

Hard to say whether it is fiction or real. Dan has orgnize many real facts into a fiction story. Many of the facts in the noval are really real. That's why this book is so popular. But in fact, it seems fiction because actually, Dan make up the story.
