Would You Still Travel If The Trip Is 13 Hours One Way?

There is so much to see in New York, especially if you are talking about the "Big Apple", New York City.

I think I too would want more than just one day. Even if you have an adrenaline rush and enjoy the city for a few hours when you first arrive, you still aren't going to get to see much in just that little time.

Is there anyway you can get more time off from work. How about calling in sick on Monday? LOL

Well, my traveling friend. I have only been there once myself and was there for 5 days and still felt deprived. Whatever you decide, I hope you get a chance to go some time in the near future.

hai, i have travelled a lot more than that in train as well as in bus. while on a tour from my college to simla from there we went to kulumanali it was the worst experince that i have ever expericed . one full day sitting in the train and another full day sitting in the bus. i was not bored because we went has a gang of 30 to 35 of them so chatting with freids was also a good experince

It does seem like a long way to go just for one day. I have flown to Holland which was ten hours one way, but I stayed for a week, so it was certainly worth the time it took to get there and back.

I do have a friend, though, who flew from WA State to NYC and stayed for a day. I can't remember why she did it, but she still had fun.

Have you been to NY before? If you never have, and you don't mind spending the money, then maybe why not?

I think for me it would depend on whom I was going to see and how long it had been since I had seen them. Thirteen hours is a long time to travel for just a three day trip, but how long before you will be able to make the trip again? So I guess it depends on how much you really want to spend the weekend traveling.

I have traveled that long (and longer) several times. I suppose it just depends on how badly you want to go. To me though, travel is always worthwhile, no matter the length of the trip or the time it takes to get there.

If I were in your shoes I would pack my bags and be with my bf for a 3-day New York vacation. My bf is from Toronto and he never told me it's thanksgiving day thats why he will be in NY for 3 days. I thought he will cut class on Monday. He and his 3 friends will depart tomorrow morning and I'm just jealous of them. NY is too far from here. I need a plane ride.

Yes! Its New York! I enjoy traveling so I think its worth it. Plus its by train so it shouldn't to too bad right? Its better than riding a plane for 13 hours. If I were you I would go for it, unless you have the time to go to New York at another time, then you should go a different time when you have more days off. Ultimately its your decision, whatever you think is best for you.

This kinda reminds me of whenever I plan a trip to Singapore. I usually take the bus and even if I have 2 full weekends I still won't go at the request of my friends there. The bus ride only takes 5 hours, but I think anything that cuts me a lot of time to explore the place more is a bummer. So if I were in your shoes, I think I would postpone it until I have maybe a 5-day vacation.

I think that Amtrak trains are enjoyable and comfortable to travel around on. However a couple of times I have had five hour delays of them so one of those times they provided me at midnight with a free taxi ride. New York would be such a very exciting destination for Thanksgiving. A weekend break or short vacation is always worth it. If I was in your shoes I would go it.
