Why is it when the van/car don't start the men of the house look at me a woman?

OK here it is. First the fuel pump goes out. They look at me what are you going to do? I get it fixed. We go out to go to work today and the van don't start. I mean nothing. Now both men have gone to school to fix cars. They look at me like fix it. How are we going to get to work say's the one? I tell my son take him to work when you get back we will go get a battery. Here they both say how do you know it is the battery? The cables are full of crap and the battery is old. Help how do I get the men to do what they are supose to do and not me?
