Transplants part of a "gold plated insurance policy"

Last night John McCain mentioned gold plated insurance policies that covered things like "face lifts and transplants". I'm assuming that he meant to say "hair transplants", a joke at the expense of Joe Biden, but how many people do you think were left with the impression that he was referring to life saving organ transplants? I'm curious about your thoughts on this.

This is what I think happened. See, in debate two, McCain used the same line. Hair transplants were the last thing mentioned, and he made a very weak joke about maybe needing that himself. Not only wasn't it really funny, but it kind of had the effect of reminding people that McCain has health care superior to most Americans'. Now, in this last debate, it looks like McCain wanted to repeat the line, but not use the same weak joke, but I think he unintentionally 'cut the line' back too far, and ended up leaving not only the joke out, but the word "hair" as well. Does that sound plausible to you?

Yes, it does Clarus...another case of poor judgement. I guess when you say something a million times it's hard to stop. I heard a clip of McCain on the stump today and he's still telling folks that Obama plans to raise their taxes.

I was wondering if anyone noticed that besides me though I hadn't considered the hair transplant angle. I hope that he did mean hair transplants.

My first reaction was "WHAT???" but, after thinking about it for awhile I can't believe that he'd be so dumb as to consider an organ transplant as something akin to cosmetic surgery.

Sorry I was dumbfounded at that part of the debate. Anything after the average American's cost for health insurance was something like $5,500. LOL OMG what has he been smoking? Maybe he meant young single people. I don't know. We have a ten thousand dollar deductible and we pay almost four thousand a year out of pocket for the policy itself. I don't know how much my husbands employer kicks in, probably nothing So I'm sorry I missed that part.

I don't think he has any idea of the realities of healtcare in this country and came up with that $5,000 figure in order to make people go "Ooooooo!". He even says it like it's going to be more than enough but, I agree with you, he must be thinking about young, single people with no health problems.

Hey spalladino! Just another dumb slip from a dumb azz! I don't think it was funny and yes there were probably alot of very confused people who took it seriously to mean organ transplants. There more he opens his mouth, the more he reminds me of Bush!~ Not a compliment and quite frightening! Don't people see this? Do they really want this man to spend 4 years (if he makes it) trying to run the country? God help us! I may not like the alternative, but I'll be damned it I'm going to support another 4 years of a Bush moron! And all you haters, I have the right to express my opinions so back off! Freedom of Speech! I'm not trying to rant or Flame!
