that you were getting fat? I do not think I would get angry, but I guess pride would hurt my feelings a little. I would then try to control the weight gain. How would you react if your spouse or S/O told you that you were getting fat?

I would not get angry but I will thank him for being honest with me. It gives me the opportunity to realize that it is time for me to start dieting. In fact I am thinking about starting to diet today by fasting, but I have postponed it to tomorrow. Lol. Seems like it is so difficult to start dieting thinking about not able to eat things I like. But no matter what I know I have to diet soon or else I will get bigger.

you would not be offended because you realize that you need to cut back, and if someone told you that you were gaining weight, their comment would verify what you already know. Thank your for responding, and good luck with your diet.

If he said it in a joking way, then I would be hurt because that would mean that he is trying to tell me that he is unhappy with the way I look, but he doesn't want to directly hurt my feelings. Joking about it is an easy way to draw my attention to it. If he just outright told me, then I would be upset but also a little mad. He shouldn't love me just because I look good. I would especially be mad because he is not perfect. You can't expect me to look fit and be in top shape if you are not even close yourself. If he said something straight up, I would want to say something back to him, but I probably wouldn't. I would just work out that much harder and try to eat better.

Yeah, I know sometimes people will criticize, but do not take in to consideration that they are not perfect.

I do think it is rude to mention it and I get angry. Here is a good comback, "well I can always loose the weight but you will always be______!" Insert insult germaine to the person who says it, for instance my husband is bald, so I could insert that. Sometimes men suffer from foot in mouth disease, meaning they are always putting their foot in their mouth. I do not think they even know sometimes that they are saying something that will get them into trouble.

I think its irritating when people tell you you're not, when you can quite clearly see the scales and feel your clothes getting a bit more 'close-fitting'... Lets face it, we know if we're gaining weight/inches whether anyone else notices/comments or not.

That is true, people know what's going on with them, and really do not need or want someone else to elaborate. '
