Several people have asked where I've been lately, as I've not been as active here at myLot as is usual for me.
I've been spending a lot of time with my crochet hook and blogging about it, and I even designed a simple dishcloth pattern. I put the free pattern on my blog yesterday, so go check it out.

It's really simple, yet pretty and useful too. I love my crochet dishcloths better than any you can buy in the store. I've included a picture below.
I'm working on a pattern for a back scrubber now. I've never made one, so trying to work one up and write it down as I go is a bit of a challenge for me. I hope to have it done today and will have some people test it and will put it on my blog when that's done.
Do you crochet? Would you like to test the pattern for me? It will be similar to the dishcloth, but the ends that you hold on to will be a little different.
Have you ever made your own pattern? Do you make things up as you go, or do you follow a pattern from a book?

| |  What a pretty dish cloth. I bet with that design, it is good for light scrubbing, too. I don't crochet, but my youngest sister knits. She made my daughter a set of dish clothes and dish towels as a wedding gift. They were made of natural, unbleached yarn. Very pretty.

Yes, it is good for light scrubbing, that's why I made it a little 'ridged'. Did you see the post on the blog? I love to use them for facecloths too, and I will usually do one color for the kitchen and another for the bath so I don't get them mixed up.

| | Wow, the ones on the blog look a little different than the yellow one. They are all the same pattern? Maybe the way the lighting is and the colors make a little bit of difference, too? Like I said, I don't crochet, so I don't really know much about different yarns doing different things, etc. | | | |

I have a lot of things on my blog, but the latest entry where I talked about my pattern (the yellow one and the off white and red later in the post) are the same patter. It was hard to get a good picture that showed it had a small ridged pattern to it.

I have made similar that I've used for place mats and hot pads and such. You can look at an earlier blog entry and see what I mean.

| |  I love it! Good job. I bet they work wonders too....I do make some of my own patterns and also think up projects to do too....sometimes I have a pattern and then do my own thing with it....your's is wonderful!

Thanks, Jill. I worked up a back scrubber too, and I've got a couple of ladies working that up now. I hope it works, but I've got my doubts since cotton yarn stretches so much when wet.

Oh wow, I do have some purple here, and if you look at my blog, you'll see that I found some awesome neon green yarn yesterday that has little feathery things on it - it would be perfect!

I don't think I could ever do two of something and have them come out right.
I don't work with thread, doilies and such, but on a whim several years ago I decided to try a very simple pattern that I found. It came out great!
I decided to make another one so I'd have a matching set on two small tables.
You guess it - it didn't come out at all like the first.

| |  Yep... you know what I mean about socks! LOL I've started knitting two at the same time so I can get it just right. I knit a little on one, then a little on the other, if (when!) it looks different I can go back and change it.

| |  Hey there sorry I didn't notice your absence could be because I was absent too but for different reasons I am battling an abcessed tooth. I think that is neat what you are doing and I will check out that pattern.
I crochet but I am still learning stitches. I love doing it though it is fun and relaxing. I haven't follwed a pattern before not for a lack of them cause I have books and magazines gallore on them. I need to sit down and try out a pattern someday. I have really only done scarfs,afghans, and simple things like that.
