some of us have kids that we will be dressing up next week. as for me, my daughters are 11 and 15 and well, not that interested in halloween. our youngest daughter will be having a party at school and may or may not go (we are not into the whole halloween thing - for us, its just for the candy). then at night, her youth group from our church will be going trick or treating for kids that cannot (ie in hospital). so what about you? what did you dress up as? i remember one year, i was an indian princess (i had been in a parade and wore the costume for halloween too) and one year i was a hobo. thats what i remember, anyways...

I dont remember any of my costumes from when i was real young but i do remember in 8th grade and my cousin was in 5th (she lived with us) I dressed up as an old lady and she dressed up as an old man...we were sooo realistic, that when we walked from our house down to the corner of the block to wear the crossing guard was, she didnt get out of her car til we got up to her car..(she always got out when she seen us walk out of our yard (we only lived like 5 houses away) She said she really thought it was two old ppl walking down the street cuz she hadnt seen us leave our house..lol. It was probably one of my favorite costumes ever. I also was a clown one year, a baby, and i think i also was a hobo one year. When i was working before i had my son, i was MIMI from the Drew Carey show...it was so well done that for the next 2 yrs that i worked there, i was only known as Mimi (they even changed my name plate on my desk..lol)

I remember one year I was a hobo. I bought some mismatched men's clothes from goodwill to make that costume and I topped it off with a big fake clown tie. My mom used to make a lot of our costumes and one of my favorites that she made was flapper costumes for me and my sister. She used this material that has like little strips of what looks like plastic tinsel on it and it looks kind of like a flapper's dress. She sewed that together and then used strips of this stretchy sequin trim for the shoulder straps. Then we used that same stuff to make headbands and put a little sparkly pin in it and a feather and voila...flapper costume! It was unfortunate that it was cold and rainy that year though...

I never have tried wearing a halloween costume. Too bad in our country, halloween parties are not a usual thing. The most common thing to do during halloween is go to the cemetery. No trick-and-treats even.

I would always be a Baseball player, Cal Ripken was a favorite, but sometimes I would go out on rollerblades and my hockey gear and call myself a hockey player. Good times..

I never went trick or treating, however I was a member of a cub group and we had a halloween night and I dressed up as a ghost, mum gave me one of her old white sheets which I used and cut eyes into it, it was basic but it did the trick! I wasn't really that interested to be honest but we all had to take part and I didn't want to be the only kid that hadn't bothered!

I usually dressed up as hobo's or old fat ladies, we did not have much money for costumes.

We never celebrated Halloween when I was younger. It's not celebrated in New Zealand. Only when we arrived here in the US two years ago, my son has been dressing up as Spiderman and a Ninja Turtle. This year he wants to be another type of Ninja lol

My mother always made our costumes. She WOULD NOT let us have anything store bought. It wasn't the cost, but that they didn't meet her approval in appearance. I was a pumpkin before anyone else. Must have been back in...1960. My mom made some awesome costumes. My brother and sister and a cousin won best costumes in a Halloweed parade. They were Humpty Dumpty (before and after) and the wall. She made a modern witch costume for me when I was a teen - complete with mini-skirt and an electric broom. She made a snowman costume for my sister. And when my son was little, she made the cutest "Little Sprout" costume for him. Know who that was? The "Ho-Ho-Ho Green Giant's" sidekick.

It is too bad that here in Indonesia, there is no such things as halloween celebration. It was not really popular because it is not in our culture. But for now it has been commercialized, people started to know anything about halloween, even clubs and mall started to make some events regarding to the Halloween celebrations by making some costume party or something like that. I don't know, when I was little I have never used costume in halloween, I didn't even know what was it all about.

My mom still has two of my "dime store" costumes in their original boxes. Actually these were my only 2 purchased outfits. They were Raggedy Anne and Buffy (from Family Affair - not the vampire slayer eek!) Otherwise, we would come up with homemade things. I was a gypsy, a pirate, a bum, an artist,a cowgirl, etc.

I was almost always a witch. It was easy, all we needed was a baggy black dress (we always had to design our costumes to fit over a snow suit) and a pointy hat. My mom would smear some green face paint on, give me a few eyeliner moles and I was good to go. I did try to go as a ghost one year, but after about two blocks my Dad had to rip a big hole in my sheet's 'face' so I could see - the two little eye holes just weren't cutting it!

I always used to dress up as a witch - always - I obviously didn't have much imagination when I was a child!

I was usually always a witch or a princess, but more commonly a witch- it was so easy to just do that and go out tricker treating. When I was 11, in 2001, my friend and I dressed up as terrorists, but everyone just thought we were being Mary and Jesus, some people would get a kick out of it. Mary and Jesus and Osama bin Laden are quite contrasting, but it made it all the more funny since depending on who opened the door we would be in a different costume each time, figuratively speaking. Another year we went out, I think the next one, she was Osama again and I decided to be Hitler, though some people thought I was Charlie Chaplin. Now it seems that I had an obsession with murderous people haha, I just liked to make my costumes weird and different, very different. Hopefully no one was offended, but it seemed like they weren't, who knows, I was younger then. Happy mylotting and have a great day or night!

I always dressed up as a witch, then when I was about 15yrs a naughty school girl, (just to annoy my mum). I suppose I only ever had a witches outfit. I do not ever remember being anything else. I love Halloween. It is big in Northern Ireland, but not in England. My Daughters love it and I always buy them a new outfit. Happy Halloween for next week.
