That CONFOUNDED DOG!!! |
| |
| Well, that BAD dog of the roommates woke us up attacking some cat just before 6 this morning! Da-yam! I'm ready to do INJURY to the DOG if she keeps this up! I made her go out, but she acted like she was happy to go out so I doubt she thinks of it as punishment! The roomie is putting the shock collar on her tomorrow night, we can't have her going after the cats - she's too big for that. And I need my sleep! I do NOT need to awaken by anything before its time to get up, but here I am, almost an hour later, still awake! | | | | | |

| | So the dog got into trouble on purpose, to get put outside. I am sorry that you got woke up. I hate being kept awake, or woke up early. Can you lock the cats into a safe room, away from the dog? Of course the dog would probably just find another thing to disturb the house, and think it was funny. I do not see roomie posting on here lately. | | | | | | |

| | She was attacked off list by some member who knew her from someplace else so she quit. We're more likely to lock the dog up! | | | |

| | I'm for letting the dog spend a cold night outside - it isn't cold enough to kill her and maybe she'd be better. Other than that - the bathroom is where she's going to be! | | | |

| | I am sorry to hear that. the doggie needs to be scolded LOL. I have new neighbors now and their dang dogs bark all night long and they come over in my yard to take a crap. there are no leash laws here. I love dogs and do not want to hurt them but the owners need to care for their dogs and our property more but that will never happen. They do not care. One of the dogs likes to attsack also. I will hurt that dog if it even acts like it wants to attack us or my dog. I have a fenced in back yard but my dog gets out front every now and then with us. | | | | | | |

| | Whenever you clean up their dogs' mess, put it in a covered bucket till it is filled then go over to their house late at night when they are sleeping and dump the contents on their doorstep. If they come over and complain about it, all ya gotta do is tell them you were cleaning up THEIR dogs' mess and figured they should dispose of it themselves. Keep doing it till they finally get sick of it and control their dogs' whereabouts. lol | | | |

| | I sure have thought about doing that but it would more than likely make matters worse here. they do not care how their yard or home looks at all. they would probably start vandalising my home when I am alseep or away from my home. I do not trust them at all. I requested your friendship. I am in Indiana. | | | |

| | I would probably call the city or whoever - sheriff about the attacking dog. There may not be leash laws in your area, but I bet there's laws about vicious dogs. We've had beware of dog signs up, but for some reason they were all destroyed. I've warned the neighborhood kids that this dog would hurt them if they got into the back yard and would destroy their toys if they got into the yard so they leave her alone. I don't think she'd hurt them if she got out of the yard, she's only defending her yard when someone gets in it and is fine when they are properly introduced, tho she's got the memory of a goldfish. | | | |

| | And I accepted. How would the neighbors know that you dumped a bucket of dog poop on their steps if noone sees ya doing it? Even if they don't care about their property, I'm sure they would care if they walked out right into that nastystinkypoop. lol | | | |

| | She doesn't harm them thou, does she? If she's just chasing, you can always crate-train her and keep her in the crate at night so you can sleep. Your dog sounds like Domingo. He knows he can only chase the one cat and they have fun chasing each other around the house in play. Thankfully, they only do that when we are awake. | | | |

| | I've suggested getting a crate, but the roomie is resistant. She's got a shock collar that she's putting on her tonight! | | | |

| | I read that and want to smack your roomie around a few times to knock some sense into her head. Most dogs actually love having a crate they can curl up in when they want to be left alone. Shock collars are cruel to dogs no matter what others say about them. I never owned one and have had some pretty wild dogs in the past. I'm betting the cats the dog is chasing want to be chased cause it's just a game to them. They know the dog isn't going to hurt them. Dunno but I would put the shock collar on your roomie and see how she likes it. | | | |

| | She first got the shock collar because she was going after the other roomie and me if we so much as walked past the door when the roomie was in bed. The roomie's never actually had to shock her with it, the collar and the beep sound is normally enough to correct her. I'd've liked the shock collar a few times before she got it to correct the dog, once she went after one of the cats over food and only a toe in the teeth prevented her from bitting the cat (who was barely more than a kitten.) I also had to kick her once for coming after me when the roomie was in bed and she rushed me at the door. I don't normally condone kicking animals, but I was one of only 2 people a notorious bitting dog at the riding stables never bit, and that was because once I stepped on him, and the second time I kicked him in the teeth - in front of his owner who turned to her sister and told her that was what she needed to do with the dog. This dog has been good, but has been outside most nights during the summer because she's so restless and isn't properly housetrained, but now that the temps turn cool the roomie wants to bring her in, because of her injured leg. I, for one, would say - that's what the dog house is for - this is TEXAS, she can behave or be outside! | | | |

| | If the dog prefers being outside to inside, then by all means, leave her out where she's more happy. Texas doesn't get THAT cold anyways. My husky mix I used to have actually hated being in the house and would even find her out in below 0 weather with a few inches of snow on top of her while she's curled up with tail over nose. She didn't like her doghouse cept when it rained. I dunno, Elic. | | | |

| | Blackbriar--you'd be surprised how cold it can get here--especially in Austin, which is JUST at the edge of the great plains, & the wind doesn't stop til' it gets to the hills. It can & does freeze here every so often. But I must agree it's horribly hot in the summers. Especially further south, closer to the Gulf where the humidity is so high. It's flat there, as well, & every summer it's like trying to breathe hot soup. But when it's winter...when a WET cold wind whistles through...well, I recall one January when I was walking in downtown Houston, & all up & down the glassy-slick, iced-over sidewalk were stiff grackles. You could probably've used them to hammer nails, poor things. So yeah, we DO know what cold is. And I gotta tell you, the weirdest sight in Texas HAS to be seeing snow in the palm trees.... | | I honestly didn't know it got that cold in TX or any other of the southern states for that matter. I bet that is a very strange sight indeed when you not used to seeing snow. lol | | | |

| | Wow! I don't think I would be too charitable toward the dog OR the roommate at this point! I think next time you should make it a point to wake up the roommate to deal with the dog. And do it every time. My two dogs don't like cats at all...in fact one of them has killed a couple of them (not her fault though because she was trained that way by a previous owner). But the cats know to stay away from the back yard. But the neighbors across the street seem to think that they don't have to follow the laws about keeping their dogs secured, so their 3 are out and about on the weekends and evenings (when animal control is closed....naturally). I've had to deal with them chasing my cats in the middle of the night too. Believe me, I've developed a pretty good aim with a thick newspaper! LOL! Trying to resist the pellet gun though, since I don't want to hurt the animals. It's not their fault their owner is a big stupidhead. (Sorry about the rant....lost my head there for a minute). | | | | | | |

| | I'm so there about loose dogs! Rant away! Our local animal control still picks up dogs on weekends! Zoe normally likes cats, but she's just not into the cats that came in as adults (except Booboo) it seems or she's got a thing against Siamese. But this is going to stop! The roomie was getting up to put her out, I was just up and shod first. | | | |
