Try googling for it. Sometimes it helps as someone else had it and posted his or her resolution.
Did you recently install anything on your computer?
It may be something that you installed. And if it is, could it be part of your installations?
Try looking at this site for some instructions if it is not something you installed.

I think Generic PUP.x is a generic term for a trojan - which may be part of the problem. Have you tried running an anti-spyware program?

UGH i tried to post and it told me i had incorrect characters (weird because i just used the letters on the keyboard no funky charmap ones)
you should note where mcafee says the virus is and manually delete it yourself then run the scan again.
Otherwise go online to trend micro housecall and run the free virus scanner. It tends to do very well at removing things something running right on your system wont.

the path was wrong.. i did a search for the folders and files and they werent found.. i followed the path it said it was at and the folder didnt exist.. my hubby is good with pcs and he tried the same thing and couldnt find it.. he went through 3 different programs and none of them said it removed that one but mcafee is the only one that ever found it.. i uninstalled mcafee and using something else now and so far so good..

I would suggest you try an online virus scan like Trend Housecall. It gives you an alternative to the virus scanner you have. Trend Housecall should be able to remove it too if my memory serves me correctly, it has been a while since I used it. You might also want to try your system restore to a point before you had this problem.
If it continues to be a problem go to http:www.freedomlist.com/forum and start your own thread in PC Protection. There are experts who come there. You will probably need a Hijackthis log for them to see.
