cooking verses eating out

Now that I am cooking all the time, instead of eating out, I feel like I am spending more money... Actually I bet that I am saving money, but I am dropping between $250-$300 everyweek and a half at the grocery and it seems like a lot... When I ate out all the time, the grocery store was like $200/ month... I like to see my cooking as saving $... But I don't know...

we hardly ever go out to eat (maybe once every few months) but my hubby is a fabulous cook so he tries to make food interesting and inventive for us. if it was left to me, i would probably cook pasta every night! lol.
i find that if you eat out less, it becomes more of a treat when you can actually go out to eat.

lately i've been cooking more and eating out less. it's not because of the prices though. i recently found out that i have an intolerence to wheat and dairy. so i have to really limit how much of it i eat. when i'm at home, i can control how much of it i eat. i just make things that don't contain wheat or dairy. but eating out is more difficult. everything has either wheat or dairy in it even soy sauce and twizzlers.

I am cooking at home instead of eating out. I have not eaten out in months. I stock up on things that are on sale in the supermarket, so that I will always have something to prepare. My husband and I were on our way home last night, we had not eaten all day. I am the type that can wait until I get home, my husband wants to eat as soon as his stomach pangs. He asked if I wanted to stop at Arbys, I said no. Then he asked, well, what are you going to eat, I said, I will either eat something at home, or nothing at all. He probably digested that and we came on home. I made him a sandwich and salad, I just had salad. As much as I would like to be able to eat out, I know that I can not afford it, and especially if I have something at home that I can fill the hunger gap with.

Yes and the finances have a lot to do with it. But also health wise, we can make foods much healthier!

I definitely cook more than eat out. My eating out and fine dining has not slowed as a result of the economic crisis though. I usually eat breakfast at home, but if I am in a rush, I grab a bagel and coffee from Tim Hortons. For lunch I almost always by from out. I have supper at home so on most days, I have at least one meal from out.

There are sometimes I just have to have a good hamburger joint hamburger. But usually I eat in. Part of that is I don't want to bother dressing to go out (I'm lazy), and I don't want to pay the cost or leave a tip that's required at a restaurant(I'm not cheap, I'm poor). Also, with eating out you don't have time to just sit around and visit. When you're finished you have to get gone so the next customer can have the table. If I didn't enjoy cooking, I might do carry out more often.

We cook more as it's cheaper that way. You're right everything is going up and we need to save every money we have. We rarely eat out lately. The only times we eat out is when my husband's daughters are with us or something to celebrate.
