Can you "wang" anything besides Wellington Boots (wellies)

Years ago at school fares you used to be able to do Welly Wanging, but I wondered why it wasn't called just throwing and if any other object can be wanged or if it just applies to wellies.

According to Wikipedia (sorry I couldn't find the word at all in a proper dictionary) you can wang anything. It is now used colloquially just to mean "throw" or, more closely "chuck" I think. So yes, you can "wang" anything. Wiki gives "wang a rock through a window" as an example.
