good idea for a christmas gift

I think this is a great idea but I would hate to insult someone by getting them a subscription to 'Good Housekeeping' in case they thought I was trying to tell them something. I must admit though I do know of a couple of people that could probably do a subscription to 'Good Housekeeping'!! LOL

i think its a great idea and one i had never even considered. Thankyou for the inspiration. I guess the secret is making sure the subscription is one the person would actually enjoy , lol. Imagine getting it wrong?

I think it's a great idea. My mom usually gets me one for my birthday but, I have several different magazines that I would love for someone else to pay for lol

I like that idea. But as another responder mentioned, unless you know the person well enough to know exactly what magazine to get, it can be a tough choice.

Two or three years ago I saw this great thing at the store, though. It was a sort of general magazine subscription gift card. You pay for it, and the person you give it to is given a choice of about a dozen or so magazines and got to choose their own. If I remember they could either send in a card by mail, or go to a website to get the subscription of their choice.

Must not have caught on as I do not remember seeing it again.

I think that it's a swell idea, Anne18. I have both given and gotten magazine subscriptions as gifts for many years.

My mom did this last year for my fiance and my brother in law and she's doing it again this year. She got 'Popular Mechanics' for my fiance and he looks forward to that magazine every month and reads it cover to cover. As long as the mag is about something they're interested it then I think it's a great gift, especially for someone who is hard to buy for or already has everything. Plus it is nice to get something every month vs. one thing on Christmas day.

It's a great idea if it's something that they'd normally do for themselves. I personnally wouldn't like it because I don't normally read magazines.

I think that is a great idea if you know what interests that person has. I know I would love to get certain magazines myself.

There are also subscriptions to other things like audiobook rental services. Someone got me one before and I loved it.

it is nice if the person really reads them, but not so nice if it is just going to gather up dust in their homes.

I think it is a great idea as long as it is something they are interested in. It always nice to get something that arrives monthly if it contains something that you really enjoy reading about. It is also usually a very reasonable gift and if you search the internet you can find some really great deals.
