I was planning on going shopping tomorrow--Black Friday!

But after looking through the ads and cutting coupons and seeing all the "doorbusters" I realized that everything I thought was a wonderful deal would be for myself. I didn't see anything anyone in my family would want and I thought to myself what was I thinking? The economy is bad and getting worse, I've lost 20% of my retirement funds so far and I was thinking about going shopping?!
How many of you are racing to the stores tomorrow? If my children were still little, I probably would shop because there are some good bargains. But they're all grown up, my little munchkins, and I can't buy toys anymore. Too bad, I love playing with kids' toys, we had such fun when they were small!
Or are you like me, spending only what's necessary and putting everything else in the savings account?

I personally think it's worth it to go Black Friday shopping when you have a big electronic purchase you want to make that is going to have a good deal. Toys can also have good deals as well, as you mentioned.
My mom and I typically just go out the stores after the rush is over in the evening. Use a few coupons and see what deals are still left. Nothing too big of a deal with us but it's still fun.
My younger brother's girlfriend however, goes nuts with the black friday shopping. She just loves the thrill of waiting in those lines and getting to purchase what she wants for people on her Christmas list.

I did some online shopping for the family last night and again today. I had heard on the news that you can also find good deals online at this time of year and they were right. I found a Razor Ripstick...it's a really cool skateboard...that normally sells for $98 on sale for $45 so I ordered that for my grandson. Since I don't live near any major shopping venues I do a lot of my holiday shopping online.

Online shopping is a lot better than fighting the crowds! You really got a great deal, too!

We're going shopping tomorrow but only hitting up one store as far as I can tell. There is one thing that I want, we're checking out the clothing as there are some good clothing deals. Other than that, there is not much more that I am looking for. It's become sort of a holiday tradition for us to go shopping so we're trying to stick with it I guess.

I saw that Macy's has a 2.0 caret total weight diamond bracelet for $99, regular $400. I was amazed at that till I got to thinking that they must be pretty poor quality stones at either of those prices. I'd sure like to look at it, though. I like to look at pretty things, although I never buy them.

Actually I didn't even want to go shopping on Black Friday. I don't remember a time I ever went (not on purpose anyway). I've heard that it gets pretty hectic at the stores, at least in the past. But my husband saw a couple of things that caught his eye and wants me to go tomorrow. Nothing expensive, just a pair of pants for me and sweat suit outfit for him. But I think I'll skip on getting the pants for me and look for a jacket for our oldest son instead (my youngest son's jacket still fits him, so he doesn't need a new one). That is, if I decide to go.

I may still go, just to see what it's like. I've never gone on this day before adn have heard a lot of crazy things about it like people camping out! I need a change in my routine. Even if I just drive around and look at the parking lots! Oh, I do need an oil change--there's my excuse!

It's called Black Friday because this day traditionally accounts for so much money being spent that it puts the stores "in the black", in other words it brings their bank accounts into a positive range. They lose money all year and then this day puts them over the top into profit.
And it was awful! No place to park, people packed into the stores. I didn't go in anywhere except to the grocery and even that place was very, very busy!
