7 years old nephew still wetting the sheets at night |
| |
| i was shocked when my brother told me that his son is still wetting the bed at night. i mean my son is turning three on january but he mo longer wet the sheets. he will wake us up to bring him to the toilet. i think this kind of cases has psychological problem. i dont think it is normal. do you know anything about a case like this. is this psychological? is there anything my brother needs to do to correct it? any experience regarding this? | | | | | |

| | i agree har har har. knowing my brother i know he is lazy. he would rather sleep than to guide his son to the loo. so we can not blame the kid to be as lazy as his dad. i think it needs to start with parents. like house said what monkey see monkey do. thanks a lot for the response | | | |

| | Hey.... Its not psychological. I had a friend in high school that still wet the sheets.... but they later discovered that it was his bladder that had a problem and couldn't hold the urine for longer than 2hrs... Have u done any tests on this Kid to find out the scientific (medical) implication of this disaster???... I think that's the first step to take.... Good luck. | | | | | | |

| | welcome to the wonderful world of mylot. i havent done any test for my nephew for the reason that i only knew it a few days ago. that is why i wanted to ask views about people who know anything about this. i told my brother also that he needs to bring his son to a doctor for them to detect the reason why he is still doing this at 7 years old. thanks a lot for the response | | | |

| | This is actually more common than people think as I found out when my now 17 year old son was little. He had this problem you see, I took him to the doctors and the doctor told me that some children suffer with it and it is only a problem if it continues after the age of 10. My son stopped when he was 9 all of a sudden, it can be that the bladder is not waking a child up to go and sometimes it takes longer for the bladder to work properly. | | | | | | |

| | glad to read your response and a little information as well. at least now from this discussion i know that there are cases like this and some are more than 7 years old. i am happy to know that in proper guidance my nephew can get over this situation. it would be embarrassing if he became an adult and still be wetting the sheets. thanks a lot for the response | | | |

| | Actually this is normal. There is a hormone (I forget which) that is not triggering your nephew you wake up in the middle of the night, and he therefore wets the bed. I babysit for a family with two girls and one boy.. and the oldest girl age 8 still wets the bed. They finally figured out this hormone problem and she now takes a pill before bed so she doesn't wet it. She also still wears a pull up. | | | | | | |

| | well wearing pull ups is one good suggestion so they wont wet the bed. i dont like the smell of wet sheets. and the soaked cushion that became dry.... har har har. well with your response it made me feel at ease that it is not a psychological problem. thanks a lot for the response have a great day | | | |

| | Tell your brother to take him to doctor. My brother is 40 and still has a problam with this. His vaulve how ever you spell it, is weak and can't control his urine flow at night. The most important thing is to get to a doctor, then not insult, yell, punish the boy. This might be something that clears up and gets better over time. My stepfather use to beat my brother and pick on him. Which just ruined his self esteem. This is something that is more common in boys them girls. It is a physical problam but can become an emotional one to. Take care to love the boy, it was really hard on my brother how my stepfather treated him. And it wasn't his fault. | | | | | | |

| | what? now that is a problem. i told my brother to visit a doctor and ask about their childs problem for i know some people still wet the sheets even they are older. but of course not as old as your brother. i think that would be embarrassing already. i juts cant imagine how would i deal with that if that happened to me. thanks a lot for the response | | | |

| | Everyone's night time bladder control develops at its own rate, so it may just be that your nephew's bladder hasn't caught up with him yet. It doesn't have to be psychological. I had a similar problem with my son until about 5-6. The part that puzzles me is that he doesn't wet the bed anymore, but he will not go to the bathroom on his own. If left to his own devices he will moan in his sleep until morning. The problem with that is, I started getting him up when I heard him moaning, so now I am awake when I hear the moaning, which I let him do because I want him to go to the bathroom on his own. If you find a cure that will get him up to the bathroom and not just whine about it all night let me know!!! | | | | | | |

| | i will try to find that out for you through my brother, but my nephew does not stay with us so i guess it will not be easy to observe on how they can solve this problem of them. but as soon as i know i will tell it to you how and what. thanks a lot for the response | | | |

| | I feel that it is not normal, but at the same time many children do it.I think it is that they feel insecure for some reason or the other. And if the parents or the others are constantly reminding them about it, i feel that it only makes things worse. It is better to make sure that for a few days he is made to wake up in the middle of the night and asked to relieve himself, and once they start making friends it automatically disappears.. | | | | | | |

| | he has his own friends already. he is seven years old and is in the first grade. well i wish someone can remind him. knowing my brother he is not that hands on, his wife works abroad. i hope that he can bring his child to the doctor so he and his child can work this thing out. thanks a lot for the response | | | |

| | You are most welcome- i sincerely hope that with time he is able to kick that habit.Believe me it is quite a common problem and not what one can say abnormal. it is just that he needs a bit of care and love and time may be from his parents, so that he is reassured. | | | |

| | Every body is not having the same way some body may wake up on that time or some may not possible for them to do so. it's common because of their mentality. | | | | | | |

| | lucky us we dont have any problems with our son regarding peeing. though my wife still let him wears his pull ups when we are going out. o think sometimes it gets to the point that a child needs more attention. i hope the parents can give that to my nephew. | | | |

| | I don't think there is naything ot worry about. My son still wore pull ups at night at the age of almost 6. My freind's son still wears pullups at the age of 11. He'll grow out of it when he is ready. My daughter's guide leader still wet the bed at 15 most nights so don't worry | | | | | | |
