Oh No! Toxic Pet Toys!  

Thankfully any pet toy I get for my two kitties are the soft kind so no paint..I even make my own for them..just using old scraps of cloth, stuff them with catnip..sew it up and presto..cat toy.

that's good to hear, at least your kitties are not exposed. i don't really buy toys for my cats. i usually get those fishing reel-like toys with feathers or sisal rope mouse. else i'll play with them using yarn or simple string.

the brand of the affected cat food is orijen. it's supposed to be an all-natural food that is based on the natural diet of a wild feline. hopefully this will not be repeated anywhere else in the world. cheers

Yes welcome to the Insomnia Club..Actually not so much insomnia..just a night owl. I've been writing ALL day/night ....the end of the month crunch to earn moola for December.
Most of the toys I get for my babies are soft toys..and I've even made my own toys for them..not really too hard..just take some scraps of cloth, I stuff it with catnip, sew it up and instant toy. There was also an article/discussion I wrote about another dangerous dog toy...a ball type thing that dogs can easily break it they chew too hard on it...some dogs' tongues get caught in it and the dogs' tongue winds up having to be amputated as it's the only way to get the ball off...bet that's made in china too.

Yes, unfortunately, I am up anywhere between 1:00 and 3:00 every morning! Good thing for me that I don't have a job huh? Are you a New Yorker too...IE: The Giants? I am from the Poconos and have been a Steeler for quite a few years. My boyfriend is an Eagle..that is a nice conflict! Good God, even our pets aren't safe! Butchie isn't allowed to play with balls cause he can chew right thru a tennis ball like it was butter. That boy has jaws of steel. He used to like to play tug o' war, but he seems to have grown out of that! He's pretty picky when it comes to his toys! I watched a show on the Boston Terriers yesterday morning & everything that they said about them just fit him perfectly! Little sh1t is sleeping with his dad tonite....told ya he was a little homo...You guys have any idea why he has to hump men all of the time? He is fixed and he never does it to women! Thanks for sending a new friend my way!

That's funny! I had a male cat like that also..he was fixed yet always wanted to hump the girls..and they were all fixed too...

God, I am getting jealous..I don't even get as much action as your pets!...well, all of our pets! Hey guys, tell me something...Darren & I are living together for ONE day now...and on Friday he is leaving me here to go to Vegas to party with his friends. MF never even considered inviting me along. I am HOT on this subject...I don't think that is right, we are a couple for 2 1/2 years & now we are living together. I can't help but be angry with him..especially since I have no idea how to get around places here. I cannot get past this issue & I find myself taking it out on him out of the clear blue..I get pissy & he has no idea why! We have talked it to death & he says I can come next time...Oooh Lucky ME! Normally he is the nicest and most considerate person that I know but he really did a major SNAFU on this move...am I wrong?

You know what I do opal? I make a lot of my own cat toys and it's really very easy...Just take some scraps of old fabric..I sometimes use the fabric from old tee-shirts...I cut out a shape, sew it up a bit, then stuff some catnip in it, then sew it close...they love it --think so much safer. Yeah, what is with the products made in China. Used to be the joke that everything was made in Japan...never heard them making inferior, poisonous, hazardous products

Mmm..wonder where the scratching post is made??? I'm beginning to think something is wrong with the cute little condo with scratching post...ever since I got it, my cats haven't touched it...not one bit..won't go near it...and guess where it's made?

Yes, I think you're speaking about Mattel...one of the largest so-called American toy manufacturers but in reality all the toys are made in china. Thing is, it's hard to get anything nowadays that isn't made there. It's like suddenly other countries are forgetting how to make anything anymore, and the products from China are dirt cheap. I actually feel sorry for the workers in China who are making the products as they are unknowingly being exposed to toxic materials....it's the higher ups, their CEOs that are to blame...I mean they don't have to be exposed to the product since all they do is sit in their cushy offices all day long, planning lunch dates or cocktail hours with friends..if they're anything like the CEOs here in our country who are flying in their private jets at a tune of $20,000 a trip like they did recently from the CEOs from the car companies who were asking Congress for a financial bailout--sorry..rambling a bit..LOL

Yes Mattel. They make Fisher-Price toys don't they? Those are the ones we used to buy for our little children. If you look at them now you can see they are nowhere near the quality they used to be. They used to be well made and solid, now they seem lighter and more flimsy looking.

Yes, I think Fisher-Price is a division of Mattel, but not sure, all I remember that during the summer there was a massive recall of toys made by those companies, and you're right. The quality of toys has gotten real flimsy

The problem is, did you know a lot of products might be from companies here in the US, and maybe say "distribued by (company name)" but are still made in china? Yikes I didn't know that about furniture items as well. And you're right about more and more kids having asthma now...not only kids but adults as well...does make you think

Just last night they had an article on telly about buying Christmas hams. Apparently if the label says 'product of Australia', it means the ham is from Australian pigs - but if it says 'made in Australia', it contains pork (?) meat imported from possibly questionable sources which is processed into a ham here. The article said the best way to be sure was to buy ham on the bone, as it's illegal for boned ham to be brought into the country. A handy hint!

It's not only discount stores though were the problem is..I went to a local Petland Pet Store which is by far from being a discount store and they are expensive, and all the pet toys are made in china.

I'm beginning to wonder if anything is made in our country anymore, and it's not just cheap discounted items or stores, but even expensive stores that sell things from other countries. What's wrong with this country anyway. More of our people could have employment if more things were made here.
