Has anything ever happened to you...

That you had previously always thought that it really would never happen to you?
I find that a lot of scary tragedies happen to only a small number of people, and when it does happen, it doesn't happen very often to someone you know.
Nothing really wildly outrageous has happened in my life yet, but I am wildly outrageous. The closest thing would be when my grandpa had a stroke, but I am just not really emotional about it because I'm not really close to him, because he doesn't speak English and I don't see him so often, but it is a shame. My brother once had this ringworm that went out of control or something, but that was when we were way younger and he's fine now. Well, I can't really think of anything else. I'm sure the worst and the best is still yet to come!

You should try to get to know your grandfather while he's still here. Old people have a wealth of experience and so much love to share. I sometimes thought to myself "geez, I've heard this story 20 times and it'll never happen to me, why do they keep warning me about this crap?!" and then I grew up and that kind of crap happened to me! My grandparents still help me with their love and their wisdom even though they crossed over decades ago! Please, do yourself a favor and hang out with grandpa. Even if he can't talk or move, he needs you and you will be so very glad you made the effort!
Ok, things that happened I never thought would...I got married. I got divorced. I had two great children. I was homeless. I was hungry for days with nothing to eat. I bought my very own house! I have finally reached the point where I have money in the bank and everything is under control financially. I never thought any of this would happen! I've had a lot of pain in my life but I've also had a lot of joy.

Dragon, you sound great fun and a really interesting person! I agree with you about grandpa. Young people so often tend to think older people are 'useless' and 'why bother'. The world is not only for the young, and it would be lovely to see more young people actually listening to what older members of their family had to say. They might be pleasantly surprised!

Yes, scary tragedies have happened to me, but nothing I'd discuss on myLot. As for wildly outrageous things, those happen to me all the time because I'm quite mad, don't care what people think, and do whatever I like (as long as it won't hurt anyone else).
