What REASONS do you have to not watch NEWS?

Here in my country there are two giant TV networks GMA-7 and ABS-CBN if you are a filipino you probably know what i am talking about. I really do not like to watch news because aside from the fact that they give me stress and worries...they try to dictate people of what to think and what to believe...they have become very influential and we let them control us...and DO YOU BELIEVE everything on the NEWS? You should be careful in believing them. Care to share your views?

In early days news was told in a very cool manner. I liked to watch it on our national channel. But these days all the news channels are spreading terror and panic. They speak as if they are going to fight you. I don't like they way they speak.

I always watch the news at night... and read it through the internet every morning... i don't it is really that bad... some new items tend to be influential... but it is up to us to use our better judgement if we will fully believe in these... The only way that i will not watch news is when my daughter will insist on watching cartoon... but other than that... my 6:30 pm is always tuned in to a news program...

News are always negative. I prefer to watch cartoons with my son instead of hearing horrific terrible news.

yes you are very right..they give out negative information that will eventually make people panic and worried, i know that we are in the information age and media has been very influential in our daily lives but i can see the trend maybe not only in my country but they try to dominate and control...imagine and know that they are the ones who pick out the stories that they have to tell us every day and every night...don't you just get fed up?even the global crisis is a fabricated lie!

Sometimes I just get tired of the tv being on. I also get tired of hearing all of the corruption in the world. It also makes me so sad and I get tired of hearing about the economy or deaths from others killing one another.

Unfortunately the only TV program I watch is the nightly news. I want to know whats the latest news and what is going on around the world. I know news are history, once it reaches the newsroom it is a stale news but still I am a news addict. We should understand that the reporters are trained to create a catchy news as it is part of their duty to tell a half truth story to make it more exciting. More often the news show the worse situation in a war torn country but in reality the caption is only happening in certain areas but we are made to believe that the whole country is in turmoil. I am in communication with somebody in Israel and is given the first hand information of the real situation there. She was surprise to what I told her. Sometimes I forget that I am hearing a second rated news and more often I end up believing everything I see and hear on TV.

I have to agree with you. News these days are so subjective and too "showbizzy". The more sensational the news the more exaggerated the networks do them. I guess, I just have to read or listen to other medium where I can get NEWS.
