Where have all the big cash surveys gone?

Has the weakened economy forced companies that use the survey services like SurveySpot to cut way back (or cut out) all the cash surveys? I haven't been getting many cash offers and those that I get, I don't even get through the first few questions...and then I earn a whopping 5 points for the weekly drawing
My last check was for a little over $20, but I don't think I've completed more than 1 cash survey in the last 2 months and that was for $3. Come to think of it, I don't remember getting a shot for a cash survey of more than $3 for quite a few weeks and the only offer for more than $3 ($5) was closed 35 minutes after I received the email.
Has anyone else had better luck making money on Survey Spot or other survey company?

I use to get alot of surveys from Pinecone. Haven't had one since last February. They paid $5.00 per survey no matter how long it was or how short. Might take me a half hour to complete. It's cheaper in the longrun for survey companies to do survey's online vs. hiring several people to do a focus group study. Some of the studies will pay $70 or more per person to do an hour survey in their offices. I've done them and they are fun but costly to the particular company needing the information and choose to get that information from a private survey company.

Hi carolbee, happy New Year! I was applied for Pinecone, but after reading more about them, I realized I wouldn't receive final approval since I work in retail and I wasn't about to lie to get approved.
I've heard a lot of good things about them, but have also heard their surveys come in bunches and then nothing for awhile.
Hopefully, some companies will be offering a few surveys in 2009 with their funds from a new year's budget.... hopefully.
Take care, and thanks for your response!!

I use Pinecone and love it ... I never have to "qualify" the surveys I receive in my email are already pre-screened for me so I know that when I start I will get paid
Plus they often make you test new products
Overall it;s my favorite.
I also tried ACOP and greenfield but those are more on what you desribe about survey spot
Try Pinecone I heard they were looking for new panelists at the moment

I was accepted by Pinecone last year, but job in retail prevents me from getting many surveys with them. I would love to be doing their surveys, as I heard they are the best survey company to work with.
Thanks for your suggestion and response!

I have never had any luck with cash surveys. I generally don't bother with them because I never earn with them.

The amount of time it sometimes takes to reach the $5 payout is crazy. I often forget I sometimes have money at SurveySpot until I earn cash in a survey.
Of course, if I didn't answer the questions honestly, I'd probably earn a lot more from these sites...lol.

I have noticed that they are really way down too. I guess the economy is making trouble for everyone. I signed up for most all of them but very few actualy come through that I am qualified for. I dont know how long they will even do them anymore. Its dwindling down. @ayumitakashi (4462)

Well I actually haven't received or participated in a survey from surveyspot in a long time. I always used the money from there for really important stuff like gifts and my metrocard. So yeah, but the good thing is that I have a job now, but the survey sites still help me with those things that I need help with. I am a member of another site where you take surveys and you get points. I'm still doing pretty good with that one. But i hope surveyspot sends me a few surveys soon because that is one of my favorite survey sites. I am also a member or pinecone which is still sending me surveys like twice a week. So yeah I'm hoping that most of the surveys sites don't get affected too much or if they have hopefully they'll bounce back, because there are a lot of people that need help right now. No matter if they have a job or not. Have a nice evening and good luck. ^_^

The number of surveys from SurveySpot has really dropped off over the last couple of months. I still get a couple of cash offers mixed in with the "points" surveys, but half the time they already had enough responses or I don't qualify.
Working in retail disqualifies me from many of the Survey Spot and all of the Pinecone surveys...so the amount I can actually participate in is very low.
I used the money I earned from SurveySpot and myLot for holiday gifts for my sons this past Christmas and whatever I earn now goes into our vacation jug...
but it doesn't look like SurveySpot will be contributing to the vacation fund anytime soon
Thanks for your response and good luck this year!

I wasn't doing any good on survey spot so I cancelled my membership with them. I get invitations to do surveys but like you I only get through the first few questions then they tell me I don't qualify and I might get a few points, but I haven't been offered anything big in a long time either.

I have enough to request a payout, but I'm going to hold off until the survey I qualified for last week is available and then request a payout. You described exactly what's been happening to me...disqualified after a few questions.
The next payout I request could be my last
Oh well, it was nice while it lasted..thx for your response!

I have noticed that also. I guess it is the economy.
I keep plugging along hoping that they will start back up soon.

That's all you can do... hopefully some of these companies have designated some of their 2009 budgets for some surveys
!
Thanks for your response!

Since a couple of weeks before Christmas I have received very few survey invitations from the survey companies I am registered with. Survey Spot is one of them and in the last 6 months I have noticed they offer less for cash than they used to. I did get one last week and qualified for the $4 survey. It had been at least 3 months or more since I had qualified for a cash paying survey with them. Since Christmas the amount of survey invitations have really dropped off dramatically as well. Usually when I check my mail my box is full but this last week it has been pretty empty. I am still waiting for payment to post to my Survey Savvy account, it has been well over a month and they say payment will post 4-6 weeks. I have been with them a long time and the payments used to post within a few days. I guess I just need to be patient.

I have joined some survey sites but never continued since I never found one that is suitable. From what I have noticed there are certain countries that obviously are not so favored for surveys. I happened to have live on one of those. So when I joined there is barely any survey for me to be done.

I suppose outside of the US, it is harder to find survey companies that offer cash surveys. At least that's what I've read here at myLot.
At least you have myLot to also earn a little extra cash... plus it's a pretty fun site to make new friends and chat about whatever topic interests you...and they always pay on time
Thanks for your response!

I think the most I ever got from Survey Spot was $5. But I continue to get great surveys from Lightspeed Panel and Elite Panel.
Years ago - in about 1999, I think when I first got my computer and went online - there were some fantastic surveys. I still get some that are bigger bucks, but they're usually the interactive surveys that take maybe 60 or 90 minutes and you get maybe $75 for participating.
But two things happened. 1) More people wanted to join the survey companies. 2) More companies started cropping up.
The same thing happened to Mystery Shopping. More participants. More companies.
In both cases, that means that each survey (or shop) pays less. And the less people are willing to take for their services, the less the companies will pay.
My greatest earnings come from in-person consumer panels. If you live in or near a big city, you might want to check to see if there are any in your area. If you have any big companies in your area, there are probably consumer panels as well. For those, you have to go to a location where you'll either participate in a one-on-one interview or on a panel of 6-12 people. I normally get $50-$175 for those, depending on the time involved. What I really like, though, is that they always book too many people figuring some will not show up. If everyone does, then someone has to go home...but still gets paid. Or when the company for whom the market research company is working doesn't want to book too many people, they'll often book someone as a substitute. You get to sit and read a book in the lobby (or do whatever - use your laptop, crochet) for an hour or two at about double the usual pay just in case someone doesn't show up for a panel.

I have just joined this cash survey money earning but I planned to quit. I don't feel safe to give my security number since some of them were asking me to fill up the forms with e=security numbers on it. That is a big no.. no.. to me. I will not risk my SSN for a $10 worth of survey? And as what you said, there are limited offers come to my email. I'd rather do the review writing even if I earned just few bucks than risking my personal identity.

Yea, I don't blame you. I'm not thrilled about either, but since they don't do any online money transfers, it is a bit safer. The few cash offers they make lately, certainly isn't worth the risk of signing up any longer.
Thanks for your response.

I'm only signed up with SurveySpot and you don't need a referral or an invite link to join. I'm not sure if what countries they allow to participate, but you can check their site. It's free to join and I just wait for an email inviting me to participate in a survey. They always send payment out after I request it and it always arrives in the time frame they specify... so in my opinion, it's a great site to make a little extra cash with!
Thanks for your response!!
