An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

Yesterday, my mother fell down from the latter. She seems as though she's ok with just cuts and bruises but she has to wait until Wednesday to go see her doctor because I can't drive. Back in the day, doctors used to be the ones who came by to check up on their patients, but you rarely hear of doctors coming by the house anymore. Don't you agree that doctors should be as personal as they used to be back then? What changed? It's such a business now, isn't it?

First I would like to say that I am happy that your mother is going to be okay. That must have been frightening to her when she fell off of that ladder. I hope she is careful from now on. I do agree with you that it would be a good idea for doctors to come and visit in the home. I think that too many things have changed in the past years because of new rules and regulations about doctors and patients and HMO's and the like. There is even a set time that doctors have to visit with their patients in the office from what I know of. I don't think it is right. What ever happened to bed side manner for that matter?

I agree. There is lack of intimacy between people in general now. Thank you for your worry about my mother, she is doing a lot better.
