Today I watched the Oprah show covering the American woman who unintentionally left her 3 year old daughter in a hot car for 8 hours and the little one died. It was heart-breaking watching tis poor woman tell her story and then to hear from the dad. Imagine one moment of forgetfulness leading to this kind of misery - how awful. Do you condemn her or sympathise with her?

Frst off, How do you forget your child, especially a 3 year old, in a car? How can it be unintentional? What was more important than her child? No i have no sympathy. It is hard for me to understand. I was a mother at a early age, and i am sure alot of people thought and still think that young and very young mothers would be the ones this would happen to. No i do not judge her, that is not my job, but i just cannot see how she can forget your child. And for 8 hours, i just can't see that.

As a mother I find it difficult to anwser the question, 1) I don't know the full circumstances (In UK) 2) Is there a right or wrong way to feel about her & her actions.
I sympathise with her feeling of loss as I cannot imagine how awful that must be. Your not supposed to outlive your children.
On the other hand, How did she "forget" her child was in the car?? I find that hard to believe!! I could never leave my kids in the car, even if I am just popping into the papershop. I feel like I should condemn her but can't seem to feel quite angry enough to.

I don't see how you could unintentionally leave a 3 year old in a car. You don't just forget about a child. You think after a couple minutes she would be like, "where's my child" but 8 hours, is just a ridiculously long time to not realize you don't have your child with you. I don't have any sympathy for her. She's an unfit mother.
