What are you afraid of that common sense says you shouldn't be? |
| |
| I'm talking about things like being afraid of clowns, dirt, that a wayward gps satellite will fall on your head, that stepping on a crack will give you bad luck, that breaking a mirror means you'll have 7 years of misfortune, etc. I don't think i'm afraid of much. Are YOU? Can't wait to see the answers to this! | | | | | |

| | Oh dear! So you don't want to be blonde? I like blonde. Red - unless you're a natural red - is so hard to maintain lol. Besides, my shade of red is a real dark red, more of a brown/auburn red with darker lowlights, not red like carrots and freckles red. I mean that would be my choice if I were red! | | | |

| | You'd probably be a hot looking silver fox! I'm 36 years old and my hair is about 60% white, it used to be very dark brown, almost black. I can't be bothered to hide it anymore, so I just call them "highlights". But I started going gray at 17, so I've had a lot of years to get used to the idea of having salt & pepper locks, saltier by the day! LOL | | | |

| | Damn straight it's all his fault! LOL His previous four wifes (gulp!) were all heavy women that looked old enough to be his mother. And I'm not kidding at all when I say that. lol So when I was put on cholesterol meds and blew up like a balloon, he didn't even notice! Drove me right off them meds though. I couldn't handle it. It messed with my centre of gravity and I felt preggers all the time. Now he says, just let the grey grow out and I'm afraid I'm getting lazy and letting it............ | | | |

| | I'm not 'afraid' of cockroaches or spiders but I HATE them. Let me put it this way, if there is someone ELSE better equipped to kill the cockroach or spider, I try to get them to do it while I head the other way as fast as I can. If *I* am the one best equipped to deal with it because the people with me are either all freaking out or little people, then I squash the damn thing and save the world. /bow SAVE THE CHEERLEADER. SAVE THE WORLD. LOL! | | | |

| | I'm afraid of spiders. I know that's a common phobia, but if you think about it common sense would say one shouldn't be afraid of things so much smaller then us. | | | | | | |

| | Even small venomous spiders can kill a human, and then there is the possibility of a septic infection fror a spider bite (sepsis can kill ya) or a fatal allergic reaction to a bite, nope, your fear really isn't too illogical at all. | | | |
mommyboo (4321)
|

| | Actually anything venomous or poisonous makes sense to be afraid of - to a certain degree. Of course being careful to avoid things like that is wise, but it doesn't make sense to go running and screaming if you SEE a spider on tv, know what I mean? LOL! | | | |

| | I'm a skeered of everything! I have more phobia's than the book of phobia's! seriously! I'm afraid of large bodies of water -- even though I can swim.. good! I'm terrified of worms-- even though I know they can't bite me I'm really scared of snails-- even though I know they are harmless to humans I'm scared of stairs-- I have nightmares about falling down flights of them.. even though once I did fall down 4 steps and broke both my legs, I've had the fear my whole life. I'm afraid of heights-- even though I'm nearly 6'1 I'm scared of bread-- yes! bread! -- even though I love it.. I am scared of getting choked. I'm scared of the dark-- even though I'm 43 years old! I don't like it.. and it feels like I'm suffocating! I am terrified of silence... total silence scares the chit outta me!-- I would rather die than to hear it. I am terrified of air planes --though I've never been on one.. I don't see me EVER being that high up in the air on anything that looks like it could fall down! I'm scared of boats-- I've only been on one once.. and we were still in the parking lot.. didn't actually get in the water.. it didn't look safe to me! I'm scared of clowns -- come on! even Tammy Faye scared me! I'm terrified of robots-- even movies with robots! I just don't trust em! I'm scared of fish-- never touched one and since I'm allergic to them I can't even tell you what they taste like! oh! but I love to fish! shall I continue? lol! there's about a million more! | | | | | | |

| | My fears are rather funny, even to me, but you have to understand that i have social anxiety and that is what fuels it. I am petrified of being in public places by myself. I am scared to death people are looking at me and making funny of me. Its so bad that i am even scared to take my trash out because i have to carry it past a lot of other apartments in my complex. Its a ridiculous thing and i know it should not matter what others say or think...and i repeat that to myself every time i go into a store alone or take my trash out or whatever else i have to do where people can see me. | | | | | | |

| | I had similar fears when I was younger, we didn't have a word for it then, but it is really tough to suffer from such an affliction. I hope one day you will be able to overcome your fear enough that you can get out and enjoy life a bit more. Some things actually ARE fun to do by yourself, but you need to feel OK going out on your own first. Social anxiety is one of the cruelest afflictions because it feels so horrible and makes you miss out on so much. I truly hope you will one day find some way to cope with it. | | | |

| | I am actually doing a lot better...I used to have panic attacks when i was around too many people, but i don't anymore. I also went through this really awesome therapy program that made me realize that when i am out in public, most of the people there i will never see again, so what does there opinion of me really matter?? More than likely i will never see them again, so it doesn't matter. | | | |

| | I am taking baby steps..LOL. I have gotten to the point where i can go into a fast food place by myself and sit and eat. Thats like major for me. The thing about me is that i realize i have this issue and try to face it head on. The biggest step i have made in over coming it..i have moved out on my own. I got an apartment about eight months ago, some of my family was worried about how i would do, and are surprised that i am doing so well with it. Now i just have to work on the issue of taking the trash out and walking in front of other apartments. I do it but there is always fear. | | | |

Alot of people feel the same way and there is a name for it, but I can't remember it! I have broken so many mirrors so if that's the reason my life is so damn unlucky oh well! Oh, and I don't like crowds too much or closed in spaces! I think that will do it! None of those things are to the point where it stops my "show" as my boyfriends says! | | | | | | |

| | I've often thought of falling down dead as I head to my car while leaving my doctor's office having been told that I'm in "perfect shape." And I've thought about my physician's response to my demise as he pronounces me dead on the spot as "Pity ... all the results said the dude was in the best of health." THEN, to add insult to injury, my heirs would be billed EXTRA for my visit, citing "We do not cover deaths that occur on the spot after a perfect physical." Memo to self: You're not gonna win, RJ. Get a bad report and live for 40 more years in misery or get a good report and die on the spot. Such is life (or death). (C) 2009 RJScott | | | | | | |
