Movie Review: Ma ma Mia

Great set up or not, the movie is enjoyable.
The comical scenes are good laughs.
And yes, the actos and actresses all have some pretty good on-screen chemistry.


One thing I learned from this movie though, Pierce Bronsnan cannot sing!

Well, James Bond can't do it all, I guess:p But Pierce should still get an A for effort don't you think?;-)

I love Colin Firth's voice though ...

You got that right James Bond.... was never ment to appear in a musical. But, with that said I think he showed great courage and character strength, by getting up there and singing in a musical even though he was not the most comfortable. I give him an A++ just for the effort alone. I know I wouldn't do it if I were him...

I must object that Pierce Brosnan can't sing. He is just not that good professionally, and I don't think Meryl is that good also. But the way they performed is outstanding. I think that's the thing that matters most. What will you do to a movie if the sound is good but the visual are boring? And I must add, in case Pierce Brosnan sings like a frog, which he did not ok, just clearing that, I will still watch him, because he's so cute

I must admit that Pierce Brosnan should get an A for effort.
I guess that is why his singing parts were very little compared to the rest of the actors.

Still, overall, the movie is enjoyable.

Well, the movie is fun to watch. Pierce Brosnan did not do much dancing in this show. But he is terrible at the singing scenes.

The star is pretty and quite sexy looking too. And with a good voice, she carries most of the songs really well. Though the lyrics are somewhat changed to suit the movie, it still brings back a lot of memories.

A movie worth watching if you like ABBA music.

That must have been really fun to be able to watch the movie in a cinema, under the full glory of a 200 inch screen and still be able to dance to the music as well! Lucky you!

Really? The song was edited to suit the movie. I don't remember the lyrics goes the way it was sung in the movie.

My favorite part was still the one where the three guys were singing about the last summer. It was very interesting to watch.
The one where the three ladies were re-doing the "Dynamos" performance was also good.

no the song was not edited at all. the movie is based on the musical if i'm not wrong. the musical was written based on the songs from abba. every song in the movie is original except being sang by the actors. watching the movie makes me regret not catching the musical when it came to singapore. if they do come again i'll make sure i catch it.

Actually, everybody sang their own songs in the movie. The casting was really great. And all the actors worked hard during the singing parts. Yeah, even Pierce Brosnan:p I watched several youtube clips of their interviews and they really all deserve a big applause for their efforts.

Yes, a refreshing kind of movie. I was really surprised when I watched it, so out of the league. Which reminds me to get my collection copy as soon as possible.

Yeah, I know she sang all of the songs herself.
In fact, they all did. Which is why I find it hard to listen to Pierce Brosnan when he sings.

The star (Sophie) of the show also did all her songs herself. And boy does she has a powerful voice to carry them!

ha ha ha ha ha... when you said "Pa Pa Mia", the first thought that came to mind is the movie by Will Smith. I think the title is "The Pursuit of Happiness". A show which show cased the strong determination of a father and his love for his son.
