Internet has made things cheaper, easier and faster - do you still use the postal services.

I do - but its mainly for Festive seasons like Christmas or for a friend's birthday or for subscribing to various magazines.

I use the postal service a lot lately. I have been mailing my husband stuff, normally I don't' use it at all.

myLot reputation of 91/100. cambiste (482)   ranked 1,205 out of 19,055 in questions & answers  10 months ago

Thanks for your response.

I dont use it very often either. But when we do need to send formal documents or original documents, its useful.
Happy mylotting.

I still use postal services. I get most of my bills through the mail and other official correspondence. I also belong to a site were we trade items through the mail. I send all my packages through the post. I know a lot of people who live far away who always send e-cards for special occassions. I prefer to send actual cards through the mail, I think it has a more personal touch.

I think eventually almost everything will be done electronically, but I dont see how we are going to beam actual goods through the internet so their is always going to have to be some form of a postal service.

myLot reputation of 91/100. cambiste (482)   ranked 1,205 out of 19,055 in questions & answers  10 months ago

Perhaps parcels and sending of actual documents is the reason we still use the post.
Since we can scan documents, or fax it, postal services have long been replaced the electronic services available.

Thanks for your time and happy mylotting.

My nieces and nephews still love getting packages in the mail for their birthdays, holidays, and just any day. It's a thrill for them and I love to send things in order to make their day! So, yes we still use the postal service to send packages and cards. For everything else we use the internet.

myLot reputation of 91/100. cambiste (482)   ranked 1,205 out of 19,055 in questions & answers  10 months ago

I can imagine! Most of us love getting even a card through the post - its very different from getting an e-card online.

Thanks for your time. Happy mylotting

myLot reputation of 88/100. deejean06 (1160)   ranked 298 out of 19,055 in questions & answers  10 months ago

You're absolutely right! It's so nice to get something in the mail which isn't a bill, solicitation for money or junk mail.

myLot reputation of 91/100. cambiste (482)   ranked 1,205 out of 19,055 in questions & answers  10 months ago

lol. Yeah, we do get those as well. People randomly send ads via mail because it catches our attention. But its a waste of time to look through those if we're not interested in it.
Bills is incredibly terrible and also the most disappointing mail.

Have a nice day

I use the post for the same.
Unfortunately, 1 out of 20 of my mails never reach their destination:(

I don't use the postal service as much as I used to. I pay most of my bills online or in person if I want to send a letter I just use email. I do have a few things that I have to use the postal service for but not very many.

myLot reputation of 91/100. cambiste (482)   ranked 1,205 out of 19,055 in questions & answers  10 months ago

Bills are unavoidable - and we usually get them via mail.

Its nice that you can pay your bills online - waiting in long queues just to pay you bill on time is tough and tiring.

Happy mylotting.

I use mail for paying my bills as I do not like putting banking online for bill paying. I have one friend and we mail back and forth. She i in Ohio and I am in Missouri. She has no computer and she does not have a car to get her to the library where she lives as its like 30 miles from her. We do chat by phone but we are both from the old school where it was common to write letters.

myLot reputation of 91/100. cambiste (482)   ranked 1,205 out of 19,055 in questions & answers  10 months ago

In places where internet facilities are not there, postal service is pretty helpful for communication.
Phone calls across states and countries is a huge expense, but sending mails is cheaper and also, mails can be read at any time convenient for the receiver. Its especially good if you're a busy person.
I can understand about online banking - it doesn't feel secure these days.

Thanks for the share. Happy mylotting.

E-mails and Mobile Phones really made transmission of messages much easier and faster. However, there are things that can't be sent through the net or phones. Magazine subscription is one. Some legal notices are also sent trough postal services for material evidences. Personally, I still use surface mail to contact my brother-in-law in a remote town. I can reach him through phone but there are things I have to tell him in writing so we will understand each other more.

myLot reputation of 91/100. cambiste (482)   ranked 1,205 out of 19,055 in questions & answers  10 months ago

Thanks for your time.

I agree. the postal service in my state is doing well with magazine subscriptions - there are many newspapers and magazines that are sent via post these days - the mosr common being Readers' Digest.

I'm glad the post is still there as people who don't have internet connection or in remote places wont be able to communicate otherwise.

I still use the postal service, like you to send Greeting cards and such.

myLot reputation of 91/100. cambiste (482)   ranked 1,205 out of 19,055 in questions & answers  10 months ago

Thanks for your time.

Sending greetings by email isn't that thrilling - even if there is multimedia and flash animation in it. A greeting card has its value as a material that we can store away and remember unlike a e-card that expires after 60 days.

Moreover, its more formal to send a card to your seniors and superiors than to send an e-card.

I still use the post office for many things and alot of reasons. I like to have my bills mailed to me because in this day in age computer can and do mess up and your online bill may not be the actual bill, so having two forms always with the same amounts on it, insures me that that is what I'm to pay, they they don't match, then I can call and find out why.
I like sending mail to my family back home, unexpected cards and pictures, they always enjoy being able to open their mailbox to pull out something new and exciting.

myLot reputation of 91/100. cambiste (482)   ranked 1,205 out of 19,055 in questions & answers  10 months ago

True, we don't know if we're getting the real bill or just a phony online. Just like phishing mails that scam us, maybe if bills ever are sent online, we people may attempt to scam us on that as well.

The thrill is a solid letter is awesome and irreplaceable by that in your online inbox.

myLot reputation of 91/100. cambiste (482)   ranked 1,205 out of 19,055 in questions & answers  10 months ago

Thanks for your response.

When it comes to family, they love photos that can be put into albums or letter that can be read over the dinner times. sending it through email wont be as thrilling.
