Software deleted |
|
I only have 299 MB free space in my E drive and 805 in my C drive. So I deleted some unused softwares from my E drive and so as the C drive and my problem is, I also accidentally deleted the Windows Media Player for Windows XP and since then, I can't listen my favorite music nor watch some videos, I can't use my skype nor the yahoo voice. And I don't know anymore how to restore it. I would really love to hear some piece of advice or help from you. Please care to share... It's really highly appreciated.
Thank you and Happy mylotting!
Happy Weekend May~

| 5. lhenax15 (99) | 10 months ago | You can install the windows media player using windows XP cd, if that is your O.S. If it does not work, you can repair your windows also using the windows XP cd. If you do not know how, you can ask an assistance from your nearby computer shop. Hope i can help.:D

6. spoiledbrat802 (3595) | 10 months ago | lol. Somebody up above suggested you do a reformat. Actually you don't have to reformat your PC. Here's some of the things you can do:
1. Double-click the Recycle Bin in your desktop, then click on restore all items. After that, try using your Media Player, Skype and YM to see if they're working fine now.
2. If the first option didn't work, do a system restore. Click start, programs, accessories, system tools, then click on system restore. Select restore my computer at an earlier date. Then in the calendar box, select the date before you deleted your files. Then just follow the next instructions. Your computer will restart at the end of this process. After that, check to see if your programs are already working fine.
3. If that still doesn't work, manually re-install the affected programs. For windows media player, just go to the Microsoft Download Center and download windows media player 11. Do it likewise for Skype and YM (just go to their specific sites).

7. busibee (182) | 10 months ago | I recommend you try to reinstall the programs that are not working properly. You can download Windows Media Player from the Microsoft Windows Website (it's completely free) and go to Yahoo.com to reinstall the Yahoo messenger (you may have to UNinstall it first, then reinstall it. If you still have problems Yahoo and Windows both have a customer support database for all sorts of troubleshooting questions you may have. GOOD LUCK! Hope you get them working again! XOXO

cableman67 (378) | 10 months ago | Whew; you got a lot of response on this one. A lot of good advice too. I understand you when you say you need to keep all your current software and files. That is what everyone dreads the most is to have to re-install windows and lose all their personal data and added programs I think it has already been mentioned but you should first try to restore all the deleted files from your recycle bin, restart your computer and see where your at then. If yous still have problems then re-install windows media player and/or skype and any other programs you have problems with and restart computer again. If none of this works then you will have to try a restore cd. If you have the origional cd's that came with your computer new then there will be one that is a restore disk and you will have to use it. The trick to it is to make sure when the prompts come up that you choose the restore option saving your current files and programs. I believe almost all system restore disks have the option of restoring with current files and programs intact and restoring fully back to factory settings. The only problem with a full system restore is that you will have to re-install all extra software you have added and if you don't copy your personal files before you restore you will lose them. I know this sounds extreme but it may be necessary if nothing else works. I don't know what software you have but you may have something with a restore point in it. I know that Norton has this feature and you may have it in system tools or another software program. This feature allows you to restore your computer to a previous state according to a particular date. If you have this then it will be self explanatory when you open it. To re-cap; first try restoring deleted files from recycle bin, second try re-installing your affected programs, third see if you have a program such as Norton with a restore point on it, fourth see if your origional system cd has a recovery option to save all your current settings and files, and last if nothing else works you have no other alternative but to do a full windows re-installation. No matter what you end up doing the programs all have prompts along the way to help you. As long as you read what it says and take it slow you shouldn't have any problems. After you get your problem fixed you might want to make sure you have some kind of system maintenance program to help keep your system running smoothly. Norton is good and I also use "Advanced System Care". Also "Tune up Utilities" is another excellent program. These programs will clean up disc space safely for you and perform system checks, as well as defragmenting and optimizing to increase your computers performance. I highly recommend using one regularly. Also a must is an anti-virus prorgram such as http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html which is free. Hope this helps you in some way, I know how frustrating computer problems can be. I used to know a good website for help in this area but I can't find it again. I am looking for it and if I find it I will post.
