was the other guy Barnabas? Just read that too a few days ago! Gotta look! Nope! It was Barsabbas.. or rather it says "Joseph called Barsabbas" - should be able to remember Joseph!!

Yeah, someone else mentioned Barsabbas. Sounds funny. I wonder if it's another "version" of Barnabas? It was Matthias the disciples chose btw.

It is Matthias, he is chosen by casting lot. But don't you think that it can also be Paul? Matthias was chosen by the disciple but Paul was chosen by the Holy Spirit.
Judas' place is not just a place but an office. It is an apostolic office.

hmmmm... was that Mathias? I'm never quite sure, or am unsure of my memory when it comes to that.. and usually can't remember the other guy they 'nominated'... now who waz that? started with a b?

His name was Matthias. He was chosen from two people who have been with Jesus from the very beginning of his ministry. How he was chosen? The book of Acts said the disciples casts lot and the lot feel on him (Matthias). It's a kind of draw lots maybe but I am not quite sure.

We just talked about this in one of my classes. The disciples chose Matthaias pretty quickly after Judas. A lot of people wonder why they didn't wait for Paul. There's some more arguments around that I don't really understand.
