Did you know that some food makes you sleep?  |

This was something new to me. But when I heard if from the radio, it got me all curious. So I did some search on the internet and found that it is true. No wonder some of the breakfast I took or the meals I had for lunch makes me feel so sleepy.
Aparrently, foods that contains tryptophan, the amino acid that the body uses to make serotonin, the neurotransmitter that slows down nerve traffic so your brain isn't so busy, make you feel sleepy. Foods that rank high on the Glycemic Index will also help you to fall asleep.
Here is the list of foods that makes one sleepy: Golden Grahams Plain Bagel Corn chips Watermelon Honey Mashed potatoes Saltine crackers Graham crackers French fries Frozen waffles Vanilla wafers Grape-Nuts Flakes Jelly beans Pretzels Rice cakes Cornflakes Instant Rice Red baked potato French bread Tofu frozen dessert cottage cheese cheese and milk soy products seafood poultry whole grains beans hummus lentils hazelnuts peanuts eggs sesame and sunflower seeds
That is like darn near everything that I eat for all my meals. No wonder I am always feeling sleepy in the office! Guess we must take note of what we eat eh? 
But these foods are best if you find it hard to go to bed at night.

ahgong (3854) | 1 year ago | Well, I just search it on the net. I am not sure if honey alone will make you sleep. Maybe the effect is not as strong as the other foods on the list. But I know that drinking honey sure has a soothing effect on me.

9. naka75 (494) | 1 year ago | Yes serotonin can make one feel sleepy. In fact there are supplements that can help release this chemical for people to have a better quality of sleep. But eating foods that can make us feel sleepy is certainly not welcomed for the office workers. I will definitely feel sleepy when I consume soft drinks, fast food, or any starchy food. Milk products are also another culprit. Therefore I've switched to having light lunches avoiding the food you mentioned as far as possible. Also I'd drink water instead of canned drinks. So far this have been quite effective for me.

but onething i know is when i take rice and yogurt in dinner and night,i get good sleep whenever i want. yogurt makes us cool and gets good sleep also. yogurt is good for our health and if we get good sleep,with sleep also our health will be good. so eat yogurt daily,if u want good sleep.
