My new addiction. They consist of dried peas covered in wasabi powder. At first they are very hot and wasabi-ish and then they turn sweet. If you breathe the wrong way when you eat them you get wasabi fumes up your nose and you start crying. Everytime I eat one I say to myself 'Ok no more- go and get a drink of milk' but they are just so addictive!!!!! I swear I was having withdrawals today when I was having trouble finding them in the supermarket!
Have you discovered the wonderful joy that is wasabi peas?

Wasabi peas are dried peas covered in Wasabi powder. If you don't know what Wasabi is, it is a green paste that is very very spicy and it is Japanese.

Hi coffeeshot,
Now I am missing out on something, we don't have anything like that here in our little town of W. Sussex, in the UK, all we can get is bombay mix, I can eat a whole bag of them so i don't buy them that much, as I can't stop eatting them.

Hi coffeeshot! I really don't like wasabi sauce and have tried those wasabi peas too before and didn't like them. But my husband loves them and always buys them whenever we go to the only shop that we know of that carries them and that is two hours drive away from our house.
That far, yikes!
Take care and have a great day!

Yeah last night I realised that my tongue was starting to become irritated by the salt or wasabi burning it! I haven't had any since then but I'm sure I'll finish off my container full before the day's over!

My husband absolutely loves those things. I have not aquired a taste for them yet, as I really don't like spicy things like that, but he absolutely loves them. He'll buy a bag of them, and just sit on the couch and eat them, while we're watching TV. I prefer straight coffeebeans, thank you very much. LOL

Haha I find that the spice is sometimes too much but it only lasts a couple of seconds before it turns sweet. It's a weird sensation.

The Asian market just down from the apartment sells these and I love them. Wasabi is an Asian word meaning "horseradish".
