Does anyone like Shephards Pie?

I want to make it but don't have a good recipe for it and wondered if any of the great cooks we have on mylot might have one to share. There are recipes for it all over the net but I would rather have one that has been tried and is known to be a good one. Anyone have a good recipe for Shephards Pie?

I have never actually followed a recipe when making a Shepherd's pie. I normally cook up some onions, celery, and ground beef in a skillet, add some frozen corn and make a gravy with some butter, milk, and flour. Then I top it with mashed potatoes with some cheese mixed into them and bake. Oh, and I season it with salt, pepper, and sometimes a little thyme.

Being Italian I seldom use a recipe when I cook but since this is new to me I need something to start with.

I love shepherds pie. I was thinking about making this tonight but with sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes. Here is the recipes I use - quick and easy! I do modify it a bit based on what I have on hand http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/rachael-ray/30-minute-shepherds-pie-recipe/index.html

Since we love sweet potatoes so much I'm going to give this a try. I'll let you know how it comes out. Thanks for the link

1 lb. ground beef 1 can peas 1 can sweet corn 1 medium onion, diced 1/3 c. sugar 8 medium potatoes 2 c. shredded sharp cheddar cheese Boil potatoes, mash and season to taste with milk and butter. Brown ground beef and onion with salt and pepper. When cooked, add peas, corn, sugar. Let simmer until heated through. In 13x9 pan place meat and vegetable mixture in bottom of pan. Cover with mashed potatoes and sprinkle cheese on top. Place in oven on BROIL until cheese is bubbly or light brown I don't have it often, but it is yummy!
