Hey, Hey, We've got cancer! |
| |
| Sorry, not to make fun, except the victum this time is Peter Tork from the old TV show/group, the Monkees. Very sad really, while Mike Nesbith was probably the best trained of the foursome, Peter was rather like Harpo Marx, he could pretty much play anything you put in front of him. http://www.popeater.com/m... It does seem kind of odd that the cancer is attacking his tongue, talk about ironic. So, do you remember the Monkees? Did you ever seen them play? (yes) Did you have a favorite? (Davy Jones was very popular) Do you remember who had the most television experience? (Micky had been the circus boy) Happens that Mike was a local - grew up in Georgetown. | | | | | |

| | I am so sorry to hear this about Peter Tork. As a cancer survivor I do know he has a big battle ahead of him. I have never seen the Monkees in person but many many times on TV. I liked them all but I do admit that Davy was the cutest. | | | | | | |

| | I kind of went between Davy (and he was a doll wasn't he), Micky and Mike - just depended on my mood. Yeah, I know, I was sadden to hear about this, because while he was never my favorite Monkee, I kind of felt like he might've been the most talented. | | | |

| | That's sad Elic. I used to tune into the Monkees on the TV when I was a boy. At least it doesn't look like it's a fatal dose. | | | | | | |

| | I agree, it sounds like they might be able to keep him alive, but he might lose his tongue and that would sure effect a lot of things. | | | |

| | I used to watch them religiously. Now I can't much remember anything about them. Very sad when the memory goes. They were almost as much fun as Laugh-In. Tv was so much better in those days... I had a favorite, but since I don't remember anything I can't tell you his name. It was the one with the funny face and the afro-type hair. He was so neat, I just liked him. But I have no idea which one he was. We all know Davy, can't forget that fresh faced boy. Was mine Mickey? This is sad, not remembering!! | | | | | | |

| | Yeah, Micky - he was fun and funny. I boycotted Laugh-In when it was on because it took The Man From U.N.C.L.E. off. ONLY episode I watched had Nimoy (Mr. Spock) on it. | | | |

| | Yeah, I remember the Monkees... it was a fun show. Too bad about Peter. Did he smoke, or chew tobacco? | | | | | | |

| | The artical didn't say. I really don't remember much writen back then, but I'm sure the studio would've discourage it from being known, since they were supposed to be good role models. | | | |

| | Boys still had cooties. I didn't want to play with them. But I was in love with a few TV stars. Doesn't make sense, but that's how 8 year olds think. | | | |

| | That is very sad. I was a huge fan of the Monkees as I grew up watching them on TV, buying their songs, seeing them in concert. I even saw them, years later, bringing some of my students (minus Mike). I thought that Mickey was the best singer and Peter the funniest but they were/are all talented men. I will pray for him. Being a cancer survivor, I can say it really stinks. | | | | | | |

| | I remember watching the show. Then my daughters watched it years later. Did you know that one of the Monkee's mother invented liquid paper? I liked most of their songs cause they were so catchy and fun. | | | | | | |

| | Mike's mom did that - in her kitchen, in Georgetown Texas - a few miles north of Austin - ya think I know about it? Ya think that I didn't know Mike was a local boy. I hear he's got a studio here in town. | | | |

| | Oh yes, I remember them very well. The show was on the TV here in the 60's though I can't really remember to much about the TV show, that song, "Hey, Hey, We're the Monkeys" has stuck in my mind ever since. I think that they were put together in the first place as a sort of counter to the Beatles. Though I may be wrong about that, I've not bothered to do any research. | | | | | | |
ElicBxn (24688)

| | Not to counter the Beatles, to feed off the popularity of the Beatles. Since they couldn't get the Beatles to make a TV show with them, they concocted this group to make a TV show. | | | |

| | I loved The Monkees when I was young Elix - I used to love watching the tv show! I have to admit I was a bit surprised when I saw the title of this post , although I got it as soon as I started reading! xxxx | | | | | | |

| | I was a little concerned about the title, but... it seems like the only OBVIOUS title. I was older when it was one, I thought it was fun, but... silly | | | |
