"The Lord of the Rings" I could not put down when I was introduced to it as an adolescent. I went through all the books, from "The Hobbit" to "The Return of the King" in a matter of weeks. Orson Scott Card is my current favorite, "Ender's Game" in particular. It is about a boy sent to a school to test his natural military skills. The ending totally took me by surprise. There were sequels, but Ender's Game remains my favorite.

One of my favorite books is Arnah's "The Healers." It is the story of a young man's coming of age in Africa. It's a very good book. I read it a long time ago and the details are fuzzy; perhaps it is time to read it again.

It's "The Fountain Head" by Ayn Rand. It's philosophical - and it wasn't boring. It doesn't state theories or anything, it just shows other people different forms of living (and non-living) through the characters' behaviors. It greatly affected how I view life and religion and things in between :) Thanks for the response on my discussion!
