What is it with these idiots and negative tagging??? What point does it make???

I would have to agree that sometimes it's a result of personal battles and things like that; but yes, say what you wanna say via a response, not through anonymous tags! Be brave enough to speak out and be known for your words. The search functionality on mylot is flawed as it is and all this crap doesn't help any either I suppose. I wonder how long it will be until some demon tags show up in THIS discussion? lol. Thanks for the comments Jakker.

The Tagging War.

They can tag as much as they want. It's a more harmless war than the Ratings War. Ratings affect the rankings while tagging doesn't really affect anything. I, for one, doesn't really use the search bar much.

Hi richiem. I wouldn't call it a war as such as it's always happened every now and then, but I do agree that it's at least a less aggressive act compared to attacking someone's rating and things like that. God knows how anyone derives any fun out of doing it though??

Heya mysdiana. I'm sure it's been going on consistently, I've just been less observant than usual lately! Then I saw a friends discussion with these types of tags in them just now. As I said earlier, I have no issues with the donotrespond, violation and reported tags IF the discussion is actually in breach of the terms of participation here; but to label perfectly good discussions with these terms is just stupid. And yes, some people have way too much time availability for sure! Idiots. Thanks for the response.

I've never seen the do not respond tag yet but whenever I come across postings that have no tags in it, I just skip it. I just thought that the tagging makes it easier for searcher to look for certain topics they like but not to do harm on other mylotters... it really happens here?:-O

Yep, it happens here alright! And you're correct in saying that placing tags helps us search. Before I start any new discussion myself, I search for similar tags to make sure I don't post something that's already been done. Without tags, the chances of repetitive dicussions being posted would be much higher than what they are already.

aha! thanks james. actually i posted a discussion last night.I remember putting tags on it but when I checked it today, the tags are gone and some who had responded to my posting put an embarrassing tag when my topic is not even related to it. waaah! it's weird...

Just try to ignore the weird ones kissieme, but if they ever become offensive or threatenening in any way, then you should report them and ask for them to be removed.

Every single discussion I post in the religion interest gets troll-tagged. Zu asked me what was up with the tags...I hadn't looked 'til then.

"Childish" is a pretty diplomatic way to put it if ya ask me! But yeah, it certainly is. You're right in saying it has little or no effect on the discussion though. Stuff 'em then!

I've never done it either. I'll report violations if I see them, but I can only ever remember giving a negative rating on maybe 2 or 3 occasions? The problem in this instance though, is that we don't know WHO leaves the bad tags! Some people are just destructive by nature I guess and have way too much free time. What a waste of energy! Yes, I've been a victim of the negative rating. I've been responding the last couple of days in the Religion and Politics interests and have seen my 'reputation rating' go down down down. I'm not worried about it though. I don't expect people to agree with me. I don't rate them negative just because they are wrong though. As I've said in previous discussions; all responses (agreeable and disagreeable) are positive. They all add to the discussion. And help earnings! Unless of course they violate the rules.

A agree that as long as a response is in context, an opposite viewpoint actually makes for a more lively discussion! I would never rate someone negative just for disagreeing with me. That's just childish! As for your star. all we can ever be is ourselves and I'm sure your situation will reverse itself in time. There are just some people that have no tolerance for others and like to cause chaos. Good luck to them!

Hi bala! It's strange how people can get pleasure from being negative and destructive like this. How these types of actions could be considered as thrilling by some people is anybody's guess. I have no reason to place negative tags either. If I've got something to say, then I'll say it in a response. Only cowards hide behind a veil of anonymity when being negative. Yes it IS sad and pathetic. Destructive behaviour is destructive behaviour! Big or small, it's still all negative and pointless.

And this is exactly how it SHOULD be. Tags of relevance help us to search for similar discussions for one..... A senseless tag is just a waste of time and effort. I am someone who firmly believes that if you've got a problem about something to the point of wishing to speak out, then stand behind your comments. Don't go and cower behind a blanket of anonymity with these stupid tags! By default we're always going to encounter weirdo's too; and there's no point trying to work out why they do what they do I guess. Heya cream. I don't see it regularly thankfully, but every now and then there seem to be these bursts of tag sabotage! I saw one case in particular today, so decided to rant a little about it. There IS no point really, so God knows why people bother. And by the way, we can add tags to any discussion when we respond to it for one; and to my knowledge, we can even add tags to a discussion WITHOUT responding to it as well! I'm not exactly sure how though. You won't get in trouble for tags placed in your discussions either I wouldn't think. I'm sure mylot is monitoring things as best they can and other members too would be reporting anything offensive or in violation. We should all be vigilant to help stamp out things like this! Thanks for the response.

I saw an example of it today itself, which is why I started this discussion. Thankfully it's not something I see that often, but every now and then this type of behaviour flares up again! It's all so meaningless and counter-productive, so Heaven knows why the heck people bother. Small things amuse small minds I guess! Thanks for the comments royal.
