I hate commercials like that. I am glad you did not get hit. When did you get a second job? I though there was plenty to do with the first.

I don't like listening to radio in the car and as my hubby drives I won't let him put the radio on because it is distracting and you sholud keep your eyes on the road and concentrate on driving the car.

The commercial you heard is an example of Pavolian conditioning applied to advertizing. The object is to pair a sound associated with a product in your memory so that when you hear the sound in real life you at least subconsciously think of the product.

The first instance of this I ever heard was in the 1970's for NAPA autoparts. They paired the sound of a car engine starting with their product, autoparts. It was brillant and it works.

In the commercial you heard, they are attempting to pair the sound of an accident with the law firm so when you have an accident, the sound reminds you of them.

It's never happened to me, because I don't drive, but I find it very "coincidental" that this sound should be on a radio commercial just as a guy cut you up and made your evasive reactions come to life. The sound included, would have made you aware had you not seen the danger so quickly, and makes me wonder if it was the work of some angelic force! Sorry... my mind went a-wandering then, but stranger things have happened, my friend. I'm only glad that you're safe!

Oh My!! My heart would be in my throat if that happened...HONESTLY!!! I hate some of those darned commercials and on the radio!! What horrible timing for them to air that!

Wow! That was timing, wasn't it. I've never had anything like that happen that scared me so... but I've heard ring tones on TV or on the radio and I thought it was my own phone because it was the same ring tone. I'm so glad you really didn't get hit.

Oh man! Radio commercials are now going to be responsible for heart attacks. I've had the radio on before and I suddenly look for a cop behind me because I hear police sirens. And the stupid police sirens are from the radio commercial! I can't believe how real they sound. I'm glad you weren't hit!

Oh my... that wouldn't do at all.
I really have trouble with some commercials that use sounds that could mislead us when driving. Some commercials here have sounds like firetruck, all kinds of sirens, a thud, they're not the best thing in my opinion.
In your case it was even worse. They should really think a bit more about what they are doing before having it on the radio.
