We keep a collar on at all times, our dog is a hound and if she sees a critter outside she can take off without warning and may not be able to get home. Most of the time she has an electric collar on so that we can remind her if she gets to far away.

My dog does have a collar on most of the time. I will take it off to give her hair and skin some air. Now to keep here on the leash is another story she likes to run out the door too. We have been trying to teach her but hey she is over a year old now and it is hard to teach a old dog new tricks as they say. Happy mylotting and take care.

Yes we have a collar on our two dogs at all times with a id disc with their name and the home adress on it just in case they ever go missing.
I think it is very important for the dogs to have an id disc on the collar.
We tend to buy new collars every year or so, just so they have a change of look

I too keep my dog's collar on at all times. His tags have all of our information on them and I know that if he is ever lost, it will help bring him back to us. Last year my dog got out of the yard, thankfully he had his collar on and someone called us saying they had found him. I think that keeping a collar on your pet at all times is a really good idea, you just never know when they might slip out the door and head for the hills. At least if your pet has a leash on, they have a much better chance of making it back home.

I like to know that if it did take off maybe someone would bring him back.

Nope, my dog runs around naked. And when we dog sit, the first thing I do is take off the collar. I can't stand the jingling of the id and stuff. Now when we teke them out for a walk, yeah, the collar goes on, but for just around the house and in the backyard, they're totally naked!

My dog always has his collar on. It has all of his tags on it. Even though we don't walk him on a leash. He goes in the yard. He did get out one time last year and he was found a block away. Some one took him to the shelter because his old tags weren't readable. They put a microchip under his skin just in case he walks away again.

hello moneymommy
Do you keep a collar on your dog? yes, unless i am as well giving Doughnut a bath. that is about the only time that she doesn't have her collar on is when she is getting cleaned. lol and my one of my girlfriend's and myself was supposed to go last Saturday to take the dogs to get their rabies shots for the year again, and a new tag for their collars, but she came down sick with some kind of a virus and she couldn't make it. so we will take them here soon to get their rabies shots. she always pays for Doughnut's shots for me going and picking her and her two dogs up and taking her back home. every year here in Middle Tennessee when that a dog gets their rabies shots, they change what the tag looks like, heart, dog bone, teardrop shape. i do not know what Doughnut's new tag will look like yet this year. but yeah, keeping a collar on your dog with it's tags on, is a good thing.
take care and have a beautiful afternoon.

I have two huskies that always have thier collars on. First of all like you mentioned for identification. And secondly Huskies are runners. They love to run constantly and there are occasions that we need to chain them up to keep them from running off so we just simply hook the collar and they are restrained quickly.

U must keep your collar on your pet..... u never know what can happen when they r outside doing their thing and god forbid they get out of the yard somehow.. all the info on your pet is needed... Besides if your pet is like my pets they feel naked without their collar or choke chain...

yes my dogs wear their collars at all times
even when bathing!
I keep them on just in case I need to quickly grab one of them and prevent them from running off after something

Yes, we did with Sassy. It came off when she was groomed but that was the only time. We have a leash law as well so she never was off it when outside, which is a law I definately support. I just wish more people would follow it here.

I do keep his collar on at all times. Sometimes I will take it off when we are about to go to sleep but that is rare that I do that cause its hard to put back on because of his hair. I have a shitzu malteese mix.

My dogs always have their collars on. The only time they are off, is when they take a bath. I lesh walk them and so they always have to wear their collars as they take regular walks everyday! Each one has their own special collar. One has bones on it, and one has jewels and they are decorated. @dookie03 (578)

I keep a harness on my dog actually. I have a 70lb boxer and he needs a harness if we take him for a walk cause he'll just pull you down the street otherwise. When he's in the house all day i don't put a collar on him because my son likes to yank and pull on him and try to get him to go wherever all the time. I do put a collar or harness on him each time he goes out though because i've got the info tag on him as well.
