One of my neighbours decided to will his properties to his dog. When I aproached him to find out why. He said "My dog does what I instruct him to do more than my children do" I asked him what do you think about the future of your children? He replied "I don't care about them, I only care about my dog that cares for me" What do think about this man? Please I need your response.

He can will everything to his dog but he's going to have to assign someone human to be in control of the assets he leaves to the dog since the dog can't sign legal documents or understand things like paying taxes or utility bills. In fact, the dog can't take care of himself at all. So, someone human will benefit from what your neighbor leaves behind, whether he likes it or not.

So long as He's mentally competent,"Of Sound Mind and Body",I believe the term is,I believe there is a Legal precedent for someone cutting off their family in a Will and leaving the money to a pet or charities..so long as it's correctly processed Legally I think it's pretty much airtight, though I don't think there's any bar on the family challenging the Will in an appeal..It's his Money and his decision..the Family could fight it out if there was no Will for their share, but it sounds like He's covering his bases properly to thwart them..

I have read some of these things happening wherein rich people in trust their fortune to their pets. Personally I find this very wrong. If I had a fortune I would leave it to institutions or people who would really benefit from it like the poor and setup a foundation.

I think this man might have his point, and he might disappointed at his children who never take care of him, or he just want to disown his children at the moment. But will this be a legal act, and will the state of where he is living recognized this will? Because a dog can't fight in court with human, and the properties usually decided for human owning.
