I was thinking about what we have actualy read and remembered? The bible is large and with all the years that some of us have lived...how much of it have we read, in comparisom to how many other books, and other things? If you had to take a test, could you pass it?

hi eafore...i've read the Bible since a child but if i had to take an exam just to answer your question, i'll say a 5? i'd like to think i'd do better but they can get pretty deep and technical. however once on the History channel they talked about the Ark of the Covenant. and they said during Moses' time someone was struck and killed because he put his hand on the Ark. well i knew right away that was Wrong. cause that happened during the reign of King David. Uzza put his hand on the Ark to steady it because the oxen stumbled and they had the Ark on a cart. they were supposed to carry the Ark on poles that were held up on the shoulders of the Priests. that was how God told them to do it AND it would have prevented the sliding of the Ark. so knowing that as i watched the documentary made me feel like i remembered something. hehe. have a good day. earfore.

Sometimes it is very surprising how much we retain. I am glad that there is more retained then we realise. I always like to watch those documentaries. I always pick up things that I did'nt know and they are always well worth the time.@eaforeman6 (8979)

That is so true, It is brought to mind and sent to our spirit when the time is right and when there is a need. Prayers for guidance are often answered in this way. That is a blessing. Have a wonderful evening!@greenglitterturtle (2750)

Hi eaforeman dear! I am not really sure if I will have a passing mark. I am very poor in recalling names and events but will always remember the lessons I learned. I remember the stories in the Bible but never remember most of the names of people involved. So, I think it will be 50/50...
Take care and blessings to you!

I am thinking that I would rate myself an 8. I feel like I have lost some of what I used to have in that category. I would pass the test though.

Ratings at 8 would still be excellent and that is a wonderful number. I find that I need much refreshing in order to remember names, places, and just many details. I wish I had a photographic memory , mainly for the Bible. @xtedaxcvg (3189)

I think my knowledge of the Bible is still on the scale of 2-3. I believe I have much to learn about it and I feel I need to read it more. The greater challenge to this is truly understanding it. A person may have read the Bible a number of times but still falls short of understanding even a quarter of it.

Yes, reading and actualy understanding does take time. I think it also takes time to look up what you do not know and rereading many things as well. Appreciate your response and have a great time Mylotting. @Rozie37 (15499)

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate myself as a strong 8. I have been reading the Bible since I was a child and I have read the entire Bible through, at least once. The Bible is the only book that I can constantly read over and over through the years. If I lose my desire to read the Bible, I pray that the Lord gives me the will to read again and it comes right back.
For a long time, I read only from the King James Version of the Bible. When I opened my mind and started reading other copies, it was like reading the Bible over again for the first time. A lot of the things that I had not really understood in the old one, suddenly became so clear to me. It was absolutely amazing.
In 1998, I read the entire Bible. I decided that this was the one book that I needed to be the most familiar with because it is the Word of God. So if I do not learn anything else in my lifetime, I will be just fine knowing and doing what it takes to please God.

the old testament I have not gotten thought from cover to cover but I have read the new testament from beginning to end. I cannot quote most things in there. I know what Jesus did or what the bible says Jesus did

I would say I know 70% of the Holy Bible. Since growing up in a non-denominational church from ages 7-Present, I would hope to have learned a lot from the bible. Right now, I attend a Calvary Chapel and they teach the bible, book by book, chapter by chapter and verse by verse. This way, there is no magin for error or misinterpretation.
Right now, I have having my husband, who was raised Catholic, but is how a non denom like myself, read this tiny book found on the Focus on the Family website where it gives a synopsis of all 66 books, who the autors are and sums up the book in a non threatening arena.
Everytime my hubby reads a 'book' I ask him what he learned and I am able to follow with him as I have already learned about that book and its contents.
Now, I am still learning about the Bible. We are not meant to know all of it because then we would stop relying on God for a strength and everyday needs. Everytime we re read a book, chapter or verse, God reveals something new to us.
So, on a scale for 1-10, I am a 7.

It will always be an on going process for me. I will always read and then go back and read some more and I restudy certain areas at certain times. I go back and look up what I cannot remmeber if it comes to mind, and I feel that I am missing something. @Anora_Eldorath (6028)

I think I can get an 8 or 9. I have read the bible three times now and still continuing. Compared to other books, bible is worth my time, worth my life. Even God put His word above Him.

, and I'm not sure if my amount of religious knowledge (or lack there of, should I say) would even be passable as a 1. Do negative numbers count? If so, I'd probably be in the -2 to -5 range.
