and it was making a horrible noise this afternoon when I was on my way to my sisters house. I popped the hood and there was antifreeze all over everything under the hood. My brother came to my aid and determined that a hose had picked today to die. For now, he gave me a ride home and tomorrow he is going to fix it for me. I am just glad it did not happen on my way back from out of town.
Have you had any car problems recently? Do you fix them yourself, pay someone to do it, or get family to fix it for you?

I try and fix them myself cars arent too complicated if you are confident,
tho am sure car makers are making it more difficult to be able to work on your own car.
I service my own cars and have just serviced my car last weekend, as there was an annoying orange lights that meant service was due.
I serviced it saved about 50% of what it would of cost a garage to service the car, then got charged 100 uk pounds for renault to turn off my orange light after I proved that I had serviced the car.
Crazy world we live in when it costs 100 quid to turn a light off think next time I'll just take bulb out lol,

Well for minor things I fix them. Like changing tires when it flat, or perhaps changing the fan belt when its broken. But for other things, I do call a professional help. I have no background on engine repair so I don't touch anything I don't have knowledge of. I am afraid that I might add more problem than solve the problem.

We currently don't have any major car problems. But it is only a matter of time. My hubby tends to drive our cars into the dirt. Both vehicles are year 2000. So it is only a matter of time. Glad you weren't on the road when problems began. We have a friend that is a mechanic. He usually fixes most of the car stuff.

We recently had car trouble, thankfully it was determined before we left the driveway. We were leaving out for church a few weeks back, and the silly car would not start. It was a cold morning, so we thought it had to do with the weather. Needless to say, it was the starter. Thankfully, our mechanic is on the other side of the street from us, so we were able to get the car over there. I directed it, while my husband pushed it with our other car. We went to church that Sunday, with our other car that is not insured. Thankfully, God was on our side, and nothing happened.
It was good that your brother was able to come to your rescue, and that the hose didn't go on you while you were traveling. And good that it is not an expensive problem to fix.
