It should all be about peace and forgiveness....and all doctrines teach this...the problem is its teachers!People have become very corrupt and angry and filled with hate and are doing things that harm others.
Now if one was to really believe in there faith or there chosen religion they would refuse to fight and kill no matter what the circumstance.
I have faith and believe in God but would never in a million years take up arms against another human being...I would be killed first!
If everybody had this view there would be peace...but religious leaders have become corrupt teaching wrong and twisted things..they walk hand in hand with political leaders and governments promoting wars..and this is very wrong..it is these people that are encouraging people to fight and these same people are blood guilty for so many innocent lives being lost.

Religion is the excuse many corrupt would be politicans use to declair war on others. The very concept of religious war is a hypocracy, when the very religions declaring war on eachother promote peace and love.

These people are not truly following the path and commands set out for them by their own faith and as such cannot truly call themselves member of this faith. It is these corrupt individuals are dragging down the good name of religions.

People should not be allowed to say that their actions of war stem from religious beliefs because all the evidence points to otherwise. Rather than blame religion for war, and thinking that without it there will be peace, instead blame the morons who are just thinking about their own personal gain.

well i think you're right, many many times in the history, there have been holy wars, infact we are fighting against one right now with terrorism and stuff like that. After my oppinion Israel also got one since 2nd world war.

To have a way to control others is why religions were created and sustained. That and a way to explain what they could not understand. This is why there are so many inconsistancies within religions and what we know as scientific facts. From polytheisim, to modern day religions, one who is hollier than another rises in power to dictate to the rest. High priests of days past, medicine men, whitch doctors alike were the ones who controlled society. The basis behind religion to obtain peace and harmony is only part of the tools they use to gain control. You do what I say in the manner I say, and you shall have peace and tranquility. Which may be true, if you abide to the word. However I think you will find that few can or do. Then when another group transgresses against your religion, suddenly it is a matter of defending God!! Please lets not be fooled into thinking that an entity that is all knowing and all loving would actually want us to kill and destroy. Where is the love there? You will find that many wars throughout time were based on religion and the fact that millions have died because of is rather sad. Still today, it is ever present with no end in sight, until those who control the others are no longer afraid of loosing thier power, and learn to respect ohers and tollerate peoples beliefs.

All you have to do is look to the jihad to know that is true. Fighting over religion is the worst kind of wars in my opinion.

I think its the fanaticism that ignites it but if you would basing from the basics of each religion you wouldn't find anything that teaches violence at all. Take for example Islam, they are never for violence at all but then because of religious fanaticism they've turn it all around and the meaning of it became very different at all. Same as with other religions around.

Actually, wars have happened during the Medieval times mostly on Religion, remember the Holy Crusade which almost took several years before it finally became over. till now there are still wars that involves religion and most people will kill for it. I think in very aspect of religion, forgiveness in the main essence for people to get along despite of difference in beliefs.

It is something that is keeping me thinking about this recently very much. Not that I never thought of it.But the recent Terrorist attack on our country has compelled me to think so. There are few war mongers and very bad people who brainwash the uneducated and poor young guys to take radical form of religion to kill people in name of their GOD.
