Can you recall an incident where your gut feeling proved to be very right?

When my daughter was a baby I knew she was very sick. Others said it was just a cold. I took her to the doctor. And she had a bad respiratory illness known as RSV. If I had waited it would have gotten worse.

I was aboard a public utility vehicle. The driver is what you can call
a reckless driver. He drives too fast and I got a worried feeling that
were going to have an accident if he doesn't slow down. Of course I am
right...we had an accident thankfully i was able to hold on tight to the
handle bar. Some of my fellow passenger was hurt.

My gut feeling is 99.9% right when meeting someone for the first time. Even my very educated husband tells me this constantly. When I get bad vibes, I shy away from becoming friends and remain acquaintances. My people skills are good. I have made mistakes in my life but nothing that was terribly overwhelming. I live a simple, easy life.

Nice to know that Carolbee.Women are gifted with this extra power I can say. They are always better than the gullible men in assessing a person fast.
OK.Carol.Could you tell me what type of person I am with your experience of interaction with me?I will come out with my opinion on that opinion immediately.

I was working at a check cashing place for a few weeks. A guy came in with 3 travelers checks from the same person. They were in numerical order and signed with different pens. People told me it's fine cash them. I didn't think it was fine. So I found the owners in the phone book and asked her if she wrote the checks. She hadn't. I told the guy there was a problem and to wait for the police. He waited about 1 minute then high tailed it out the door. I hadn't called the cops, but I couldn't give him money for stolen checks. It saved the company the value of the checks and the woman who had her checks stolen got her money back. If the thief had been smarter and only tried to cash one, I wouldn't be suspicious, but thieves aren't the smartest people.

I rely on my intuition quite a bit. There are so many instances where my 'gut' proved to be right.
Years ago when my daughter was young I attended a playgroup with her and there I met another mum who was very nice but gave me a feeling of doom every time I saw her, it was a very uncomfortable feeling as though she wasn't who she said she was; it got so bad and I found myself avoiding her while feeling quite ashamed, after all she had done nothing to me, she was in fact very pleasant.
To cut a long story short she indeed turned out to be quite a selfish person over time and the sense of doom I experienced around her manifested itself when her husband was suddenly killed in an accident. It was a devastating time for her as you can imagine.
Our intuition is rarely mistaken I think we just need to stop the constant chatter in our heads for a little while everyday and listen as our greatest lessons unfold.
Good topic!

Thanks Paula.I liked your response very much .It is quite interesting ans I can understand about your gut feeling. As you say we human beings have some unexplainable power which we don't realize and fail to use it in the right way without concentrating on it and muffling it with the impulsive trivial matters and wavering thoughts.

Quite a lot of them actually Bala.
The one which I will remember most though, goes back to a trip a few years ago. We were camping at a lake side and a couple of my friends wanted to go boating in the middle of the night. It was extremely clear and starry and the peak of the summer season. Somehow i was not comfortable and told these guys not to as i sensed something wrong. Coincidene or what , in about half an hour it got cloudy and poured. Had we been in the boat in the middle of the lake ?

The proof of Providence.I always know that we have a certain power of intuition .Everyone of us.It works better with a person who keeps his eyes peeled and mind open and fresh.Al most always the accidents and fatalities happen to the fool hardy and irresponsible people devil may care attitude.
I know that you are a very alert person and I am happy that your gut feeling saved you.

Well, i actually started a discussion about that last year... it was about this neighbor who i wanted to invite over for dinner because he was all alone since all his roommates went to a seminar... but instead of inviting him over... i just decided to bring the food to him... and after a few days... i found out that he robbed all his roommates... and left without a trace...
Good thing i decided not to invite him to my apartment... he could have done the very same thing... or worst... hurt me and my daughter...

I didn't go to work one night because I was feeling scared. There was a big fight that night and lots of people got hurt. Another time, I wasn't sure whether to go some place new or not. I dreamed about this antique handpump on a kitchen sink, I walked into this new place amd there it was, on my right. Exactly as in my dream.

Well many times, my intuition proves me right. I have always been sharp when it comes to thinking ahead about the effects and results. In hiring employees I know who will make it good and who will not so even if my Boss would want to hire this applicant she always would get my advice before making any final decision.

I think I can hone my capability in this field as I also run a placement company with my partner.
Well there are a lot of give always to find the grain from the chaff.
A few minutes of conversation will ultimately reveal that person's capabilities beyond doubt in spite of the external appearance of looking too smart.

Hi,
My job involves in recruiting people, after taking interviews.I am involved in taking 2nd/final round interviews and found people are coming with good preperation of interview procodures required for that post. Some are very good, some are good etc. Now,from that 1/2-1 hour interaction it is difficult to predict his/her retainability. How long will his/her service will be available for the organisation?
Here my GUT-feelings often gave correct indications.I can more or less predict seeing their behaviour, family history, answers on future goals etc.My this gut-feeling has saved my company a lot of bad investment on Street-smart people's recruitment.
One glaring example is a bright youngman,smart,hobby-doing planchets. He was over-qualified and got selected in Round1 of interview.I deselected him.He is presently behind Bars.

Nice meeting you Lahiri. It is the second response coming from a person in a placement agency or company. That makes me very happy .I myself am running a recruitment company and as I have responded to another response on this subject the feeling is very very crucial in this business as people are out there to con you with fake certificates and fake personalities. Nice meeting you here and looking forward to seeing more of you here in Mylot.
