Do you think Wicca (witchcraft) is now some kind of religion? |
| |
| Personally, I think Wicca has become a religion of sorts. I know some people who would study witchcraft and be making love potions and stuff, and I'm a bit scared of them. I don't know if I'm afraid because I believe in those things or I'm just freaked out at the fact that they can do "stuff" to you if you cross their way. I know there are But seriously, it's almost as if they're capable of hurting as much as helping. What do you think of Wicca? | | | | | |

| | Hi inkyuboz! I don't know all that much about Wicca, but I do have a few friends who practice it and they are not bad people! I think that it is quite a nice religion in fact and I am going to do some reading up on it myself because I am quite curious about it. I definitely can tell you that it is not something to be afraid of! It is a good kind of witchcraft! You should do some research on it yourself and you will see what I mean! | | | | | | |

| | I am a practicing witch and you wouldn't know it unless you asked. As a matter of fact my best friend of three years thought I was a Christian until she actually asked. I never ever do anything to anyone no matter what they do- karma works all of the bad stuff out anyway so why would I waste my time and energy.... | | | | | | |

| | Anytime something includes a set of beliefs it can be classed as a religion. Here in the US there are a lot of beliefs that are considered religions that in other places are not. Wicca is a religion so is witchcraft. Anyone can try to do Magic that will influence you. Most of it is a form of hypnosis. Wiccans are not interested in hurting you. At least, if they are true practicing Wiccans. They are into the Mother Earth and Spiritual stuff. Shalom~Adoniah | | | | | | |

| | Wicca is a religion so is witchcraft I disagree..Yes Wicca is a religion in North America but Witchcraft IMO isnt a religion at all and as far as I know isnt legally considered one either...They are two similar yet very different things (Wicca and Witchcraft) | | | |

| | Witchcraft is no more a religion than carpentry or glass blowing are. Witchcraft is a skill, not a religion. something that can be practiced by anyone that takes the time and effort to develop that skill. | | | |

| | You certainly have a lot of misconceptions about Wicca and no doubt have the ideas of what witchcraft is via the media such as movies which portrays "witches" as evil...this is so far from the truth as to be funny. People who follow Wicca or any pagan belief aren't going around doing love potions or spells against or for anyone. Wiccans follow the Wiccan Rede which specifies that a follower of this belief cannot harm anyone, it goes against the principles. Wicca is a returning to the old ways--that is non-Christian or Judaic, or Muslim. I was baptized Catholic, confirmed Protestant, followed many of the concepts of Unity and Science of Mind, studied Buddhism, Hinduism, the mystery schools like The Rosicrucian Order. But then some eight years ago started reading up on Wicca and that has been my chosen path to follow since. When followers of Wicca or paganism do "spells",number one it's usually for our own benefit and is really no different in concept to a person going to a church and lighting a candle for a "prayer" as we too use candles for our spells as a means of focusing our intent on our prayer/spell,such as a healing spell Wicca IS a religion and isn't "new" but has been around for quite awhile in concept, and is even recognized by the US Army, so in other words people who follow Wicca and happen to be in the military services cannot be persecuted for their beliefs. Perhaps you should read up on Wicca before you make judgments as to whether it's evil or not...and no it's not. Wiccans have a deep abiding love and respect for all life and is an earth oriented religion...we honor the earth and all it's creatures...does that sound evil to you? We believe in the concept of feminine AND masculine of the Divine or Creator, so in other words we don't believe in a male only God the way the big three religions do Please read this article...its a good introduction to the concepts of Wicca http://www.wicca.com/celtic/wicca/wicca.htm | | | | | | |

| | Anyone is as capable of hurting as they are of helping. Cross someone and they can punch you in the face - no magic required! Wicca, as has been pointed out, is a religion. Not all witches are Wiccan. You can be a witch within a variety of religions - or even none. There's a lot of silly and confusing stuff in the media about Wicca and witchcraft. A lot of it can be very sensationalist but then a lot of the media is like that anyway, any group of people who aren't organised or rich enough to file a suit for libel can be lied about. | | | | | | |

| | Wicca is recognized as a religion. I saw books on Wicca and they are most always in the religion section. I do think there is a difference in Wicca and witchcraft. I think that Wiccans worship nature. I could be wrong but it seems I read that somewhere. | | | | | | |
