Coupons - do people comment when you use them?

I got wondering what other peoples friends and family say when you use coupons. My mom is always saying that I'm good at using coupons and smart for using them because i dont forget them and it saves me money. She says she likes shopping with me because i give her the coupons i have spares of that shes getting things of. My younger sister says im a Coupon Wh*re. Which i think is really funny (she was hoping to make me mad because shes always disappointed that I dont react to it.) I've had others say that they think its silly to use coupons and save a couple cents (another of my sister says that) But if you put the money you save aside it adds up - since January I've saved just over 60 dollars using coupons. What do people you know say?

Hey saundyl! Never mind what people say! You know that you are the smart one! Using coupons and saving money is being smart and thinking! They are the ones that are missing out! Any money that can be saved by using a coupon is the best way to go so ignore them and what you are doing! Let them be the ones who are losing out! Saving $60 is showing them!

So far no one has figured out how to tax the money you save, so saving money is even better than earning money. Smart people pay attention to the cents because cents do add up to dollars.

I noticed that places tax coupons differently...some places take the taxes off after a coupon is applied other places the taxes stay the same! I love having the extra money - i figure what i save through coupons is my movie theatre money (i go like once a year) or my entertainment that i wouldnt normally do.

I myself am a Coupon Wh*re. LOL I started using coupons about 2 years ago and since then I save at least 50% on my groceries each week. I also love to use coupons at restaurants and when I'm out shopping for clothes. I have a binder filled with baseball card holders that I put my coupons in. I take it with me to the grocery store each time I go! My grocery store doubles 1$ coupons, so I feel pretty lucky there. As far as my restaurant and other shopping coupons go, I typically keep them in my purse so I don't have to lug my binder around to the mall with me, haha. I think coupons ROCK. I don't understand why EVERYONE doesen't use them!! They can save you so much if you're willing to put the time into finding and cutting them!

that is an awesome idea - i need to get something to keep mine in so im not just riffling through them in my purse. I've never seen a store here that has double coupon days or doubles the bigger coupons. I like taking the time to locate them too. You can find all sorts of other neat freebies and things while you look.

I think it is great that you do well with them. I do not use them, I find I spend more money using them. I do use store savings cards. I would ignore your sisters.

She was just teasing me. I was just curious what other people say about coupons when others use them. I know some of the cashiers HATE getting them

My family and friends don't criticize me at all, they want to know how I save so much. I have saved close to $100 dollars in the last 2 months by using coupons.

We have an Entertainment book and when we go out to eat we always use the buy one get one free coupons for our food and it helps us out alot. We havent been able to use them much as money has been tight, but they are wonderful when we do get to use them!!

Thats really awesome. I've had cashiers roll their eyes and a few get kind of snotty about processing them when they get handed to them around here. I figure though its saving me money to use them it doesnt hurt them to input them into the system.

No one ever complains when I use coupons, and if they did, I'd tell them right off. Why should anyone think it's silly to use a coupon and save a couple of cents? they're already there, so use them!! Some people are just strange, plain and simple.

My family doesn't say anything because I tape the receipts up on the refrigerator. They see how much I save and they know that if I didn't cut coupons then they wouldn't have any mad money for video games, toys or hitting Burger King every once in a while. I do get a little chuffed when I am in line and someone starts making a stink about it "taking so long" to scan the coupons. That's when I just smile and say, "Oh look, I got a whole cart full of groceries for less than twenty dollars!" and THAT really makes them see red. Sixty dollars since January ... that's awesome!

It is awesome. I found out that the one pharmacy offers coupons for gas - you get your prescription filled with them and they give you 2 dollars per perscription filled to use at the gas station i go to...which the gas station in turn gives you a coupon to use at their affiliated grocery store. (also shop there alot) and it adds up alot - even if you dont have alot of prescriptions (i dont i've had one filled since January)

People I know think it is a silly habit. My Mom is a big coupon user and saves a lot of money. I know that there are a few cashiers that hate to see someone come up with a lot of coupons because it takes time for them to go through them. But that is what they get paid for to ring up what ever you are using to pay for the things you are buying.

i dont use coupons unless i can get a lot of money off of a certain product because a lot of the time, i find that the store brand item is still cheaper than the name brand one even with the coupon. no one has every said anything to me unless it was a coupon for a free item (which i have had in the past).

Coupons are a great and easy way to save money on things that you use or something that's new and you just want to try it.Anyone that says different either has more money than they know what to do with or isn't too bright. We all need to save in this day and age.Keep clipping!!!

It is. A few times i've emailed a company asking if they ahve coupons or samples so i can try a product before buying because id hate to be allergic to the item and not be able to use it if i paid full price!

It depends on the coupon, the sales, and the store. Here they don't really double coupons if they did I'd be one of the folks buying 2-3 sunday papers a week. But since they don't double them here, I don't bother. Though if I see a good one that's printable I'll snag it.

i'm bad for "printing" coupons to pfd if they are for months and then reprinting them everytime i need the item - like Tylenol.

I think in an economy like we have right now, nobody's gonna laugh at you if you're using coupons. Everybody's trying to save money so that's very okay in that way. So far, people doesn't comment whenever I or my parents use coupons in buying things, I guess those people who see us using those coupons also do the same thing! lol! =)

With the way the economy is going, especially now and in the United States, I think most people will start using coupons frequently. I used to make fun of my mother for clipping so many coupons, but now I do it myself. I think more and more people will use them and will no longer make fun of you.

I think if more people use them companies will offer more/more often to entice people to buy their products.

I use coupons and the savings really do add up. The only time I would look at someone funny for using coupons are when they dont have them ready at check out and they go looking all around for them. I dont really look at them funny I just get impatient cause I have mine out and ready to go when I get in line.
