Contacting the Manufacturer |
| |
| I got a Nikon Coolpix digital camera for Christmas. Since I got this camera the battery life has been HORRIBLE. I charge it and hours later, it's dead. I've tried many different things, both following the instruction manual and doing my own thing, and it doesen't seem to make a difference. Either this camera just sucks or I got a defect battery. I am hoping I have an automatic one year warranty on this camera. I plan on contacting Nikon about it this week. I'm hoping they take some kind of action because my parents paid almost $200 for this camera and I deserve to have it work! I'm mostly worried because I'm going on my honeymoon in June and if I don't have a working camera, I'll freak! lol Have you ever had to contact a manufacturer about a product? A digital camera? What was your experience like? I'm hoping they're willing to do something for me! We don't have the reciept from the store anymore, but I have all the information that came with it still in the box. | | | | | |

| | Hi Jenn..I find that digital cameras eat batteries..I always buy the ones that are made specifically for them. Even normal batteries of an expensive brand, just are no good. They last no time at all. So I buy the ones that are about $15 and say they are specifically for digital cameras and have a much longer life. Well, even the much longer, is not all that long but better then the others. I have bought some batteries that last only a couple pictures and thats it! I have also heard that certain brands are harder on batteries than others. I would find out about that from someone other than the dealer who wouldnt tell you. | | | | | | |

| | The battery is from Nikon. I got it with my camera. I heard great things about this camera, which is why I ended up going with it. But what good is it, if the battery life is 5 minutes? :-( It's not fair to buy something that expensive and then after a few months find out that it sucks! | | | |

| | I have contacted manufacturers when something isn't quite right with a product. Most have been most helpful. Too bad though that you no longer have the receipt for the camera. Even with the receipt some stores have a deadline for returns. Good luck with your problem. Keep us posted as to the outcome. | | | | | | |

| | Thanks! I'm pretty sure my parents bought it back in November, so I'm not even sure if a recipet would do much for me at this point. But I almost wish I had it, I'd just return the camera and find a new camera that had a better battery life! | | | |

| | I contacted Nikon and they weren't willing to do anything for me because it was a battery problem. I am SO upset. | | | |

| | Could you just bring it back to the place that sold it to your parents, and have it exchanged? I had a Nikon Coolpix for a while - about two years, and I didn't have any qualms with the battery life. Although it sucks that it runs off of AA batteries (do they still run this way?), whereas with Canon Powershot & other brands, they have a rechargable battery & charger that comes with it when you buy it (WAY more convenient than buying batteries over & over again). The only issue I had with my Nikon is that it took FOREVER to focus & take pictures. Literally about a minute per picture, and longer as time went by. Good luck with getting it figured out! | | | | | | |

| | It actually runs off of a rechargeable battery. I'd prefer it run off of "real" batteries because then I can buy the lithium batteries. Even though they're more expensive, they last a while! | | | |

| | Which coolpix do you have? My husband bought me the coolpix P80, before he purchased the camera for me I was reading the reviews for that one and the s60. I did read on some of the cameras that the battery died to quickly. (For both of them.) I, thankfully, have not had that problem. I hope you get your situation settled before your honeymoon. | | | | | | |

| | I don't know my exact model number. I'm feeling too lazy to look it up right now. LOL But would you believe - my battery hasn't been acting up ever since I bought a second one as back up. It's really weird..... lol | | | |

| | LoL, usually the way it happens is it supposed to break down the day after the warranty expires. Well, its good to know though that you will get some nice pictures when you go on your honeymoon. :) | | | |
