Tonight we watched a movies called A Daughter's Conviction about a woman who stood by her mother who was about to be falsely accused of murder. The movie only had one star. There was nothing else on TV, so we watched it. It turned out to be really interesting!!!
Do you pay attention to raitings, or are you more interested in the movie itsself?

My husband and I look at the star and laugh because usually the lower the star the better the movie. We always shake our heads wondering if the person/people giving the star actually watched the movie.

I agree with you here. I have not liked some of the best rated movies, and the ones I like are usually not well rated.

Yes, I do make up my mind about movies on the basis of movie reviews (stars). It gives me an idea about the quality of a movie most of the times. But there are times when some good movie gets less stars or some real bad movie gets more stars than it deserves. Actually it depends upon the person who rates the movie. It may be so that he liked a flick that most of the people think is tremendously bad or boring.
What I do is, I read about User reviews about a film or a product before going for it. The users or the consumers are the people who are going through it, so for me, they'll give the best idea!

I don't really pay much attention to those ratings. I mean that is just one person opinion to of the moive and i like to watch for myself and see if i like it or not. a lot of the times i really like the movie and i find the ratings to be false. but everyones perception is so different, so i rather go with my own

I don't even know where to find the star rating. There are films with 4 stars that I would never see. E.T is one. While there are films that shouldn't even have a star that not only would I see but I own , like Porky's. Life is too sgort to watch a movie Just because of a star rating. The only reason to watch a film is because you rnjoy it or it has sucked you in and you Have to see the ending.

Hi danishcanadian,
I will look at the ratings when I come across them. I don't particularly check them before I decide what movies to watch.
Usually, I will look at the plot. If I think I will enjoy the show, I will go for it.
Cheers!

I don't usually pay attention to star ratings in movies. They are not that reliable because not everyone enjoys the same thing. If a critic does not appreciate a movie, it doesn't mean that I won't either. By the same token a movie that has great reviews might be one that I don't really enjoy.
I usually pay attention to what the movie is about more than the ratings.

I have found that my taste in movies is vastly different than ppl that normally rate them. Some of the movies that critics have labeled as horrible, I love and some of the ones they've labeled as wonderful, I hate. So, I don't really pay attention to ratings...I just watch what I want to watch.

I never pay attention to the star ratings since I generally like the movies that have the fewer stars. When I read the reviews of the movies I almost never agree with them and I will go to see the ones that I am interested in seeing.

Ratings are pretty subjective too... someone might hate your favorite movie - everything's possible.

This is my point also. The one who gives the rating (stars) is also a man, and likes differ from person to person. The thing you like the most can be the worst thing for someone else and vice versa.
But most of the times, the ratings do help!

I never base a movie by its ratings, when I think that the movie is interesting with or without a star rating I will still watch it.
Even the oldest movies I still watch when I feel like watching it.

I've learned never to pay much attention to movie ratings, because all they are, is the opinion of somebody else anyways. I'd rather make my own opinion, thank you very much. :)

For me, it doesn't matter who stars in a movie, as long as it has a good story... Then i will watch that movie. I love foreign movies (non-US) so most of these actors/actresses are not really that famous. And, I can see that they are also good in acting and in par with those famous actors.

I rarely pay attention to ratings in movies. If I want to watch a film,I will read its introductions first and then decide whether the movie is worth watching. But sometimes when I sit down before my computer and find nothing to do,I will use search engine to look for some movies and in this case I view star ratings of a movie important because I don't want to waste my time.

I check the ratings, but I also check what the movie is about. We did watch some one star movies before checking and they were dogs. I mean they were so bad that maybe the actors in them will probably deny they were in them when they become famous. But sometimes you do get someone who really does not like the subject and gives it a one star out of spite (I guess that happened in that case). Then again, sometimes we just want to watch some mindless drivel.

I rarely pay attention to those ratings. The people that rate them don't always have the same idea of what's good and what's not that I do!
I haven't seen that one. It sounds very much like a Lifetime Movie.
I'm currently taking a break from homework and watching "I me wed". It's pretty good too!

I don't think that critics are always correct in the way
that they give ratings to movies. Most of the times, I try
to make my own conclusions.

For me, it doesn't really matter. If I find that movie looks good, then I'll watch it, no matter what the star rating is for that movie. I don't make a huge deal out it. I don't really pay much attention to it. I don't know, it's just the way that I've always been. I've never pay attention to it.

Hi danishcanadian...We don't pay attention to the star ratings for movies or programs. Sometimes they turn out to be correct in their assessment but other times they completely miss the mark and we love the movie. It's always better to go with what you like and not always take the advice of others. What you consider to be entertaining could be horrible to someone else.

No I do not see the star rating of the movie. It hardly concerns me. At times I hardly know the star rating. I just see the movie as it gives me a feel good factor. At times I feel that the movies with lower star ratings turn out to be better than those 5 star rated movies. The movie you spoke of seems a really good movie.
