Today I read an article that an airplane pilot died shortly after taking off from a South Florida airport. It seems the plane was on autopilot and he died after putting it into that mode. Luckily a passenger on board had a license for smaller planes but was able to land this bigger, two engine plane with audio help from an air traffic controller. Talk about a scary situation! I would have been so scared if I was on that airplane! I am glad that that person was there so he could safely bring down the plane and the other passengers. Have a nice day and happy myLotting!!!

They were lucky that there was someone on board who knew something about planes!! I would have also been scared spitless! I love flying but there seems to be alot lately where they are running into trouble! Yikes!

I believe there was a show on Mythbusters about whether a passenger could actually land a plane and from their conclusion with guidance from an air traffic controller it is most definately plausible. Still amazing all the same! Thanks Zelo

Sorry, didn't mean to make you worried about it. I have flown many times and nothing has happened. They say that air travel is safer than travelling by car. I hope nothing ever happens to me or my family like that. Thanks for your comment and happy myLotting!!!

Wow, that sounds like something that's right out of that disaster movie from the 1970s, "Airport 1975".

Those passengers are very fortunate that there was another pilot on board to take over. I don't think it was a coincidence.

I thing that anyone in that situation would try to do something to land or get out of that plane. It's fear of something that gives us the strength to do something that we would'nt normally do.

I would have been scared also. And maybe it should be that there should always be someone else to help with the planes when things like that happen. I am so glad that there were someone on the plane to land it and that people didn't lose their lives..well, except with the exception of the pilot.

Yes, I am glad too. I think things happen for a reason. I am sure that the passengers on that plane are definitely happy that that other pilot was on board that day. Thanks for your comment and have a nice day!

Hmmm... There are some good things and bad things about this. When it comes down to it how can anyone really have such a bold and powerful opinion on this.

Oh wow, that man mustve had quite an adrenaline rush. It was a good thing that the pilot mustered enough strength to keep all of the plane and passengers safe. He had a nice deed and thought right before he passed. May he reach his 'destination'. Thanks for sharing this.
