Why do parents say that children are expensive?  

kids are very expensive because they constantly need money for things that they do such as school, items for school and clothing.

even before they are school age...have you seen the cost of formula, diapers etc these days?? its nuts...and clothes too..babies and toddlers grow SO quickly its nuts!

Cher - No, I dont have children and dont need too. Well of course, we were kids too and then we do our best to supply in things they need. Kids do grow but dont need that many things such as Nintendo to stay at home and entertain themselves when they can go outside help the parents clean, cut the grass, shoot some hoops there are tons of things to get entertain and busy.

Raven - true but have you heard of some certain diapers that are kind of expensive in which your baby can use and they are useable. My older sister bought several because of the colors just makes his butt a bit bigger. lol..but hey, it saves you a lot of money compared to the ones that you have to be throwing away day after day.... See I'm only 21 years old and I already have tons of things plan in which I dont have to pay that much money. There are many ways to save money. Well I see that each of us are taught differently.

Ravenladyj - Well see it all depends because boys nowadays are into sports or skateboarding and etc. and they find easier ways to get money but when I have a boy and he wants to have a gf he will have to start working because im not going to be paying for her. Many boys at the age of 15 are already working. It also depends on the parents how much they keep giving and buying to their children. I dont need to have kids to say what you all are saying knowing as a fact you can save and earn a lot of money in several of ways. If your smart about it and sometimes I understand parents go crazy in buying things for their children. Yes, kids grow up too soon plus boys get taller in life.

Giftsandbags.com - Well how many kids do you have. If you have more than 3 kids then I have to say that is very expensive but other than that...no I dont think so. Well see you can also put your children at the age of 18 to start working for them to get into college.

No, my parents dont complain neither..instead go buy me clothes but mostly I do that and not go into a type of person that will throw away a lot of money on clothes that I wont wear or its too expensive. Marriage its a different story. I understand the prices of the toys and etc...but see if the person would be smart when they were children could've done it..Im not saying that your dumb. What I mean...I have more than 7 bags of collectibles and tons of toys for babies and keep getting older...so pretty much wouldn't spend that much plus got reading books that are mine taken good care of it. If you know what your child really needs...go for it just know how to spend your money too.:)

Garyc09 - Yeah you can say that is a lot of money but also people go a bit crazy in buying so much stuff in which they wont even wear or use.

Txgrl21 - lol...no they're not. Yeah well my older sister and only is passing through that stage at that moment but see she's not buying diapers all the time. She bought the ones that are reusable in which yes, you watch them, dry them and use them again.:) Okay some people go to the extreme...awww...how cute.

Roboid - Thank you, very much finally got the answer from everyone. hehe..so far. True...well children that get spoil a lot will be expensive and the ones that are not...it is a different story. It depends that will cost me as much as my needs...

cbhomework - No, I dont need to have children to realize whether they are or not expensive. See...parents exaggerate in things and buy so much things which many of the times they dont need. Yeah exactly my point see...you didnt had too spent much money when people save old clothes. You have to think about the future...

ddhawkins63 - Well housing yeah it is expensive but see you have to think about the future before buying your home. Second, children are not so expensive if you go too crazy in buying things then good luck on that. "Save" When you were a child you could've taken good care of your things and might as well saved them for your future children. See I didnt think yet about when I would fall in love and children but I was very responsible in my things and im going to pass them to my children.:) Well Im not going to take my baby to a daycare until a certain age...Im going to become a teacher so might as well teach him/her at home then if I know like I do take it to my aunt's daycare:) See...you have to have your way around than the hard way. You all are taking the long way and I dont have to have children to see about it... Well then use a certain amount of electricity, water and etc...

Okay well you can delude yourself any way that you would like but no matter how you cut the cake, the pieces come out tasting the same.

Marguicha - Like I've told others that wrote on myLot. If you would've taken good care of your books or toys when you were a child. Trust me, you could've saved a lot.:) Yes, children need their shots/health, education well private schools are more expensive than public because I went to a private school for 3 yrs. Well yeah the computer Im using my parents is paying for it...they dont want me to work yet plus nobody cant find a job at this time because of the economy and Im not going to work at H-E-B its a rip-off you get nothing just pay for gas. I have my fiance that takes me to college. See...my parents have across the border a place that are not going to sell it...so instead people are renting it.:) In which they found ways around to save up more money. Also, much of the money that I get for birthdays, holidays or just like that out of nowhere um...well I use it in which I sell chile apples; mango w/chile chewable candies and watermelon. Its a pretty good price and many people give me extra money so that money I save it for school. In a month I get more than 300 dollars. Im not married yet. I guess they got big in your stomach. See...people over react and panic with so many things like what Im reading from what your saying. You should've saved long time ago because some are so stupid in getting pregnant in a young age. Also, you dont need to be like this because your most probably doing something wrong to react like this. Do you have family members in which they could've given you certain things that you needed? Diapers - have you ever heard of buying the re-usable ones? I bet you have which you save more money on those. Well then your husband went too crazy in buying expensive stuff for the baby than the house. Sorry to hear that your daughters are divorced with their husbands but see many women nowadays dont give up and find their ways to keep going on and give their children from what they deserve. Babies are not expensive.
