I went cold turkey and didn't have too much problem, aside from stress. I just don't think hubby is truly 100% ready, which is why it's so hard on him. He's not fighting off the stress as well as I am.

Yeah, buying patches is as expensive as buying cigarettes here. But hubby didn't buy his, a co worker gave them to him because he had previously used them.

I actually smoked far more than my husband did. I chain smoked all day non stop, he was at work so couldn't smoke that much. Plus I'd been smoking longer too. And when it came to quitting... he'd always been talking about wanting to, and I honestly thought he would get to that point before I would. Just hearing the word "quit" would make me smoke more.

But my time just came. It just clicked inside my head and I didn't want to smoke anymore. It wasn't as difficult as some other quitters said their quit was, and I think it's just because I really truly wanted to.

I don't think you want to. You know you "should" but that doesn't make you want to, and I don't think you can successfully quit until you want to. Once you really want to, you won't need any help, cold turkey will be good enough.

Thanks kats! I honestly did want to when I quit with the ciggs!
I did it and was fine for a few months. The I started with
these stupid cigars and got hooked all over again. I had
put it in my mind with the ciggs to stop and with the help
of the Chantix I did it! Now, for some reason I am having
a problem doing that! I do know that I have to do the same
thing again. And now I have a health scare which should give
me a real incentive! So why is it more difficult? I'll check

When I got pregnant with the twins I quit... but then started up again when they were 5 months old. Both times I quit it wasn't really that difficult, because I had a lot of motivation to quit.

Some other things that helped me was to tell everyone. I posted it all over my Facebook, told everyone I knew that I was quitting, and created a Squidoo lens about it too. Then whenever I thought I was going to give in and smoke, I thought about what people would think of me, since everyone already knew.

I tried the same methods for dieting, but they didn't work as well!

He won't use them as directed. He wore one for a few hours yesterday, but has not worn one today. I think he'll need one at work sometimes, but he'll only use them when he really feels the need. Once they're gone, he'll just have to deal with it. Hopefully by then he won't have any more problems.
