Publishing at lulu is so easy

Ebook format is very easy, just upload the word document, then wait for it to convert to pdf.
After that, you can upload your own picture or choose one from their templates, after that decide on your pricing, lulu takes 25% as commission. That's about it, the book is ready for sale.
The next time is to decide on the number of pages for preview.
That's about the process to publication.
Since I'm new, I got to add in personal detail, paypal account and customize the store front. Takes a bit of time, but nothing difficult.
There are a lot of ebook available for free download, you can take a look at the how they do it.

Mine is in ebook format, publication is almost instant.
If you want to sell your book in physical and online bookshops, you have to acquire the IBSN number, which you can access from lulu.
There are some writers who choose both option, the print copy (mostly in paperback) is much more expensive than ebook format.

If you tell me one year ago to write and publish children story, I will say I can never do so.
Now that I have tried and successfully published, I feel it's the easiest thing to do. Children have lively imaginations (so do I, I'm only 5 years old at heart) and everything is possible.
The whole story is less than 1,500 words, if I can make $50 from it, I will be very happy.

Hi Roxanne, you do not need to pay lulu anything for publishing the book.
Lulu earns when you earn. If you put your book for sale at $1, Lulu commission is 25%, meaning $0.25, so the buyer will have to pay $1.25 to download your book.
The minimum payout from Lulu is $5 and pays direct to your paypal.
Publishing is very easy, everything is automated. Upload your story in word format, the conversion to pdf takes just a few seconds to a few minutes (depend on the length of your file).
You do not even need to write a thick book. Some writers make their ebook available for free, the length is only a page or 2. Some sell for a few cents.
It's quite an experience, encourage you to give a try.
The difficulty is in the marketing. I have not learnt how to market my book yet.

I like the easy publication system in Lulu. There is no need to wait weeks to publish. Plus I can quote my own price.
The only thing I do not know is the marketing part. I'm still learning and reading the forum.

Hi Heartbreak, lulu is not meant for children book. In fact children story books category has too many titles and many ebooks are free to download.
I will need to use a lot of time to market my ebooks. Actually I am quite reluctant to do so, since the ebook is only slightly more than 1,000 words and less than 2,000 words. And I'm selling only above $1 for each book. Not worth my time to mass market them.
I concentrate on writing now, once I got a sizable collection of ebooks to sell, then I will market them.
The most popular topic is still business and finance. I think after you can do a compilation of your articles into an ebook and sell them in lulu. If you want the print version, then you have to apply for ISBN through lulu. It costs money.
Hope you can make a lot of money out of your existing articles.
There are some problems with Dailyarticle now, they call it a "display problem", and my articles happen to suffer from that. Some days they show up, some days they do not.

Hi Sunmoonandstars, I agree that Lulu.com is more better for people who own their businesses.
Lulu.com even allows using traffic exchanges to channel traffic. That's something that cannot be done at many article submission site.

Hi Canellita, sold only two books so far, I didn't really spend time to promote the books, just let it be. I didn't even bother to do a writeup for the storefront, to make it searchable! I wonder where the buyers come from.
Considering that the writings take just an hour or so per book, and they are children stories, I am quite happy with the earnings.
I read in the forum in lulu.com that most ebooks in business and finance sells very well, poetry and children books are at the bottom of the list.

This is so very interesting! I wonder what I can think of to create an ebook from. What made you choose lulu?

It's through the discussion thread in mylot that I get to know lulu.com.
Some writers here published fantasy tales or poems, and self-published in lulu.com. I doubt they did enough marketing, however, they did enjoy the writing and sell a book every now and then.
The best about lulu.com is that you can use whatever marketing method you want, traffic exchange is acceptable.
According to the discussion in the forum at lulu.com, some writers use a few traffic exchanges to generate traffic to promote their ebooks, and nearly shut the whole lulu down. Even then, it's ok with lulu.com, since lulu earns commission of 25% on sales.
