I think everyone should prepare in case this indeed becomes a pandemic. I have some face masks already that I bought last year. I also have stocked up on water, meds, food and other essentials. This could spread fast and its really pretty scary. Did you start preparing incase this gets way out of hand?

We haven't done anything to prepare. We always have extra food stocked up anyway. I try not to panic over these things unless there is really a big reason to panic. I think a lot of times the media likes to make things seem bigger than they are.

it has not spread to pittsburgh,or pa yet , plus i think the media is making it seem even more worse than it is , if every one paniced there would be a real big problem , plus there really is no way to prepare for it

Here in the UK there have been one or two reported cases from what I can gather, but the symptoms so far are very mild. There was a similar scare about the Bird Flu, but it didnt't turn out as bad as the press were saying it would. Just got to take things a day at a time..

I haven't really done anything in preparation in the sense of stockpiling food and water yet. But I have followed the CDC's guidelines on what to do to prevent getting infected with the swine flue. That's about all the 'preparedness' I've done. Fortunately though there have yet to be any reported cases here in my state of Mississippi. And I hope it remains that way. But I suppose if it gets worse I'll start stockpiling.

We have really just been hearing about it this weekend around here, I think they actually started talking about it on the news friday morning. We havent done anything as of yet, but if it comes down to it ....yes we will do what we have to do.
I am very curious if the school will send home some notes on what to do or expect....we will find out tomorrow when my son gets home from school.
good luck and stay safe...as I heard there are cases in Texas and California... and they may still be spreading too.

I don“t prepare myself for those kind of things, unless the government gives out guidelines.
I always have some food around but I doubt it could be called "stocking food". The last time I did that, I got moths in the fluor and rice and I had to throw away a lot of food. After that I just buy what I need. The super is a few blocks away: i can even walk.
Have a nice day

So, you need to prepare something to avoid Swine flu, as it helps everyone to stop spreading it. I have already kept my floor as clean as possible, it is really a hard work.

We are under attack by aliens and they are not the kind being portrayed in the movies. They are more like the viruses that seem to be popping up everywhere. Is that possible?

This is a flu that I have never heard of, where did it come from? Also how can it hit us during the summer months...excuse my ignorance about it but I always thought the flu of any strain is only able to live in the cold weather...littleowl

I have one question about the swine flu
how does one tell the difference between this crazy swine flu and the regular flu?

The symptoms are a fever 100 degree are higher which means go and get checked out. Coughing, sneezing, sore throat, body aches, headache, and with this flu sometimes vomiting and diarrhea. I went food shopping and the shelves look like a hurricane was coming they where running out of stuff. So I am happy I got some stuff in just in case.

We haven't done anything special yet to prepare. Luckily there haven't been any cases of it in Pennsylvania. I guess I am still trying to understand it. I read up online and tried to find out exactly what it was earlier today. I just don't understand why it's spreading so quickly. I mean if it's coming from pigs I would think that it would be common in farmers and people working with pigs. Is it being spread to just anyone? I have so many questions yet that I haven't found the answers to online!

I'm not worried to be honest. Every year there is some supposedly new disease that will kill us all...
Sars?
Bird Flu?
Now Swine Flu!
I'm more likely to get hit by a car crossing the road than get any of those killer bugs!

me too have bought face mask when SARS epidemic's attack. i think the concept between SARS and swine flu is quite the same. the infected animal and human get infected by them. but my country already make some preparation in case this epidemic attack our country as its can transfer from human to human and you know, some of students from my country that make a visit to Mexico also get infected. i hope this epidemic can be controlled and spread around the world..

Yes, you are right. I think we all should protect ourselves from this swine flu, it helps to stop spreading. We should care our health and keep good personal hygiene also having proper preparation for it, our efforts would help.
