What Is Your Favourite "No Fail" TV Station?

Canada
May 1, 2009 7:07pm CST
Where there is absolutely NOTHING good listed in the TV guide, do you have a station where there is always something interesting? When I lived in the USA, I would tune into MSNBC for the documentaries. I loved those documentaries, and now that I am in Canada and don't get that station anymore, I miss them!! Here in Canada my "no fail" station is BBC News. There's nothing on TV until about 10 PM tonight, so I have the BBC World Service playing in the background. I love the BBC. It's nice to get news from all over the world, not just North America.

If I was willing to pay for cable, HGTV would be my top of the list. I used to love watching it. When I did housekeeping in the nursing home I would turn it on in the dining room while I shopped. It was really inspiring to me.

I liked TLC for a while when they did the more educational shows, but after seeing all the shows a few times, I went looking for another show

My "No Fail" tv station is Animal Planet- I love the animal documentaries and shows that are on it- though its starting to fail sometimes with all the marathons of "me or the dog' which I find boring. But usually they have stuff about wildlife documentaries on such as David Attenborough or Wild Kingdom or just independent specials that are really good, and they have a few good series like "Most Extreme" "Untamed and Uncut" and others..seems like they are moving more into the realm of reality tv, but I still like them.

beny if you expect to earn, make your own responses, rather than posting comments on others. It will earn better for you. Do more than one line and you will be on your way. It is nice that you are so engaged with this discussion, though.

I just got cable tv again after not having it for several months and I'm back to my old fav - HGTV, very very seldom is there not something interesting on there. I avoid the news stations because it's all 'bad'. Hallmark would be my second choice.

I know the feeling you have about there being nothing on. Last night, we spent two hours watching old MASH reruns because there was absolutely nothing decent that we could find even with over 100 cable channels! Kind of sad actually! We're watching Baby Mama now, which I never would have gone to the movie theater to see, but we didn't see anything else on, and I'm kind of glad because it has turned out to be quite cute!

Interesting discussion! My "No fail" station is always ESPN. There will always be something I like on it since I am a huge Sports fan. So either its baseball, football, softball, hockey, nascar, soccer, and whatever else I will watch it!

My station that fills that function seems to be the Weather Channel, as it offers lots of stories as well as forecasts. They have some cool documentaries as well.

I find that it changes.I an here in the U.S. and I have digital cable. Once it was The Biography channel, another time it was Logo , These days I tend to tune into BBC America. But when all else fails, there is always Turner Classic Movies.

I'm gonna sound like such a comeptet dweeb here. See, I don't have cable or satellite so yes as some would say I still live in the stone-age. My no fail station out of the 4 or 5 I get is always PBS public t.v. I love to watch the cooking shows because I'm sort of a "foodie." I like some of the british comedies they have to I used to love Faulty Towers but still like Keeping up Appearances and those type of shows.

I find i tend to turn the YTV channel or one of the toone channels on IF its not into the hours of things like robot chicken or "adult humor" i find half those shows that are stupid. Otherwise if theres nothing good on - i tend to flip to one of the music "stations" on the satellite (theres no picture just music like a radio station) and i read a book.

Yea, I guess a news station is safe to turn to, but my, "I can't believe I have 300 channels to watch and there's nothing on..." stations are HGTV and TLC, and sometimes the Discovery or Travel channels. HGTV usually has something that I can stand to watch all the time, whether it's home improvement or house hunting, that's usually the first place I look if I'm bored with me regular channels.

I watch a lot of CNN (NO MSNBC). I like to watch food network and History a lot too. I can really tune into History almost anytime and watch what is going on.

I think either A&E or TLC always have something I enjoy, also the channel TruTV is my newest pick, they have these shows that are called "World's Dumbest Drivers, World's Dumbest Partiers, etc., that are absolutely hilarious, I don't think I have ever laughed so hard about a TV show.
