So Tired of Left Overs |
|
I just looked in my fridge for something to eat for lunch. It's full of food. Full of food I am tired of eating. Leftovers from last week (actually two weekends ago)when we had out of town guests. Meatloaf, roast, brats, corn, american bbq, koren bbq, green bean casserole, hotdogs, pink monster, mississippi mud pie to name a few. We've been eating and eating. I just heated up a piece of meatloaf, then crumbled into tortilla with some cheese to make a burrito out of it. How desperate is that to have something different? But I don't want it to go waste.

Don't you have pet dogs? We always give our left-overs to our pet dogs so we don't have to worry of having to throw them away. That's a lot of money to waste. Better start giving them away if they are still good to eat.LOL

SukiSmiles (1564) | 7 months ago | That was two weekends ago (so that's actually just over a week?). Everything has been refrigerated well, and we reheat to the correct temp, so no food poisoning. We don't give our dogs people food, because it makes our older dog sick. we've eaten quite a bit, but getting bored.

SukiSmiles (1564) | 7 months ago | Everything thing has been refrigerated and reheated appropriately, so I am not worried about food poisoning. I am just getting bored. We have finished quite a bit off though.

rocketj1 (2201) | 7 months ago | most things should only be in the refrigerator for a matter of days. Bacteria will begin to grow.

SukiSmiles (1564) | 7 months ago | Unfortunately it is all prepared food and that cannot be donated. What a shame isn't. We've plowed through quite a bit of it. For example, the kids finished off the mud pie yesterday.

4. highflyingxangel (8915) | 7 months ago | This happens to me all the time. I hate eating the same things all the time so I try to come up with creative ideas to use what we have without it tasting like or seeming like it is the same thing that we had the night before or the night before that. I don't mind eating leftovers, I just hate eating them constantly.

7. book1962 (14484) | 7 months ago | hi Suki when reading your description of what is in your fridge then it sounds so great and not boring at all. There is a nice variety of foods in your fridge. We rarely do have leftovers as there is only hubby and me and most of the time we manage to prepare just as much food as we need. Wish I could raid your fridge now. ... lol

8. dragon54u (9404) | 7 months ago | You need to put some of the in the freezer!
Use the roast for hash and barbecue beef sandwiches. The taco idea was one I would have suggested! Cut up the brats and make a casserole with au gratin potatoes or mix it into the green bean casserole. If I had all that, I would freeze most of it so it wouldn't go bad and look around for some different recipes.

| 9. DesertRose1959 (35) | 7 months ago | I can relate to the bored thing. What I like to do is separate the leftovers into portions and place in zip lock bags. I place them in the freezer and they are well preserved for when you don't feel like cooking or just want something fast. I take it out of the freezer set it to defrost and then heat it, either in the microwave or oven and Voila! This will keep you from having to eat the same thing day after day and you don't have to worry about wasting food.
