I know I saw this yesterday. President Obama was making some sort of an address behind a poduim. At his left hand was the American flag and at his right hand was a green flag with a crescent moon in it. Does anyone know what the green/crescent moon flag is? I have tried to find the video on the internet, but have been unable to locate it. If anyone finds it please post the link here. Thanks.

I missed this one. From what country was he making this adress in? Was he here in the USA? If he was here in the USA then having any other flag then ours is very unconstitutional and WRONG!! But if he was in another country when made his adress then I think it is common and traditional for our President to have our flag and then their flag present. But I am not sure. Good luck finding out.

He was here in the U.S. and I believe the addition of that flag in the background was symbolic of our unity with Pakistan against the taliban. I don't know about the Constitutional issue so I can't say but I have seen the flags of foreign officials in the background along with the U.S. flag when they were visiting. The Afghan President, Hamid Karzai, and Pakistani President, Asif Ali Zardari, are both in Washington for tri-lateral talks so perhaps the Zardari was at this White House briefing as well.

I just saw a clip of the President's comments and you can see the green and red of the Afghan flag to the left of the Pakistan flag so it looks like the flags of all three countries were represented.

That is correct as well I did not think about when we have other ambasadora, presidents, etc. visiting our country we show them respect by displaying their flag. Thanks for the reminder!!

I think it is of a Muslim country. I was already looking at this discussion but it is of Pakistan. So it seems that there has been something important in a political senses going on there.

The USA and Pakistan will have to work together to get rid of the Taliban in Pakistan and Afghanistan. It will be the only way to win that war.

It was Pakistan's flag. He was talking about Pakistan and the situation over there at the time.

The USA needs to join Pakistan in defeating the Taliban there and in Afghanistan at present so I suppose it was meant as a statement of unity on that objective.
Thanks for your input.

I think it was the Pakistani flag, because the cresent moon was white instead of being yellow like most of the other flags that use that emblem.
